The reason some hate it is the same reason it speaks so deeply to others.
The judge is still here today dancing and reveling in the darkness of man.

I am still traumatized after reading this long, painful and traumatic story. Judge Holden commits horrific acts that I cannot even begin to describe in my own words, if you have not read it, I would not advise you to.

Judge Holden puts shivers down my spine of how his only goal is to do much violence as he can and how committed he is.

So well researched, it evokes a world that time forgot, and it doesn't hurt that McCarthy is the most enviable sentence-writer, maybe ever. Just unreal.

Hello, If you love this and
"the road" you have to check out Robert Mcormick's - Swan Song ... actually all of his books are insane: "Speaks the night bird" & "Queen of Bedlam" "Baal" my other favorite "The Wolf's Hour" ..

You touched the key to this work. "Enjoy" doesnt come into it.

Just finished my first Cormac book - The Road. As a new father this book scared the hell out of me. Such beautiful, succinct but horrifying sentences. Everytime ‘Papa’ is just went through my soul.

I’ll give Blood Meridian ago once I’ve calmed down a bit.

This is the peak of rap battles.

One thing that i notice in judge Holden's second verse os the last part where he says
'if living like men's what you're after ill help you with that
And once i have your vessel intact and you're held in my hands
Youll feel weakness you could never imagine and beg to go back to your prison for a century after ive spent but an hour by-'
To boil it down, this man threatened to build AM a body and torture him so badly he would beg to go back to being a bodiless entity. Diabolical work.

Bravo

I think I enjoyed Brothers Karamazov, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, and As I Lay Dying more. But it it is right there with those three as my personal greatest of all time.

Jude Holden is terrifyingly well written. The way he is introduced to the glanton gang is just scary to me how he was basically waiting for them on that rock, his rock

One does not “enjoy” reading Blood Meridian, one reads it in spite of enjoyment

Yeah hard to argue with that one. Even the people I know who didn’t enjoy it still recommend it to others
