This video shows one of our customers removing dry First Contact polymer from his 18" Obsession Telescope mirror. While this method worked, it is not the recommended removal method as we suspect it created tension and/or shear forces that could potentially damage poor coatings. These forces are avoided if the polymer is peeled at a 90 or greater degree angle from the surface. Chris placed a socket over his collimation dot to protect it, and once the polymer dried he used the socket as a handle to remove the dry film. This video attests to the strength of First Contact Polymer to encapsulate and remove contamination.

Nevertheless, it's a cool video and shows the strength of First Contact and final cleaning results! Thanks Chris W!

While Chris' removal technique worked, it is not the suggested method as it creates tension at the substrate interface. PCT's suggested removal technique is to peel the dry polymer film starting at an edge as described in product instructions.
