Death toll rises in Helene's aftermath

At least 91 people from Florida to Virginia are dead and search efforts are underway for the hundreds of people still unaccounted for after Helene hit the Southeast.

Seems that Augusta, Ga. where I live hasn’t made national news. Ot that I’ve seen.
Helene turned east instead of the forecast to go north. The eye wall came over the western part of the county with sustained winds of 84mph and gust to 103mph. There are literally 10’s of 1000’s and maybe more trees down. And I’m talking huge oaks and pines over 100’ tall. A friend’s street has anywhere from 2-7 trees on or in houses! Will take weeks to clean up. Major roads turned into walking trails. The electrical structure has been decimated! And now no water for a lot of Richmond Co. Local news says 21 deaths in this area. That doesn’t count of the two that died in their sleep because of a gas leak that was ruptured by a fallen tree. Heard that 2nd hand from a cop.
Helene has caused damage never seen before from south GA all the way to NC & TN. And the effects are going to last months or even years!

Think about this. If there is no polling places standing or open and there is no way for people to get to their polling places and no mail running, how they going to vote? And there is another storm heading to the same area

I was in Asheville NC two weeks ago for 2 days looking to buy a home. After 3 hours I had such a strong feeling of doom I had to leave early. I couldn't explain it, cancelled appointments to see properties. I returned back to Arizona. I see now, The Universe warned me.

The term biblical is being used because it's the worst devastation this area has seen. Also, this is the bible belt, they're very deep into their religious beliefs.

Thankful all my family and friends are safe in SC and NC, and Georgia no electric Non passable roads but all still have homes and are safe. Are ok. Just found out the last people were found or heard from and safe late last night. Praying for the ladies' husband to be found alive and well.

Why is people saying biblical? That would mean God didn't like something and went through extreme measures to wipe it out so he could build something new.

This was at least the tenth "storm of the century" that I've seen in NC. Left in '16 after 30 years. Too many hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, and Confederates. I went through too many hurricanes there. My heart goes out to all affected by this deadly storm. I know what they're going through. Food and medicines are already being airlifted in. We are AMERICANS and we will not leave those people to suffer. Help is coming. Hold fast.
