People judge women for getting Botox and people judge women for getting old. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t 🙄

1. It’s expensive
2. It’s temporary
3. Issues with repeated use
4. Side effects
5. It’s a gateway drug to more expensive and riskier cosmetic procedures

I’m 55. I get Botox periodically in my forehead lines. That’s it. It works great and I still have expressions. Just no angry looking “elevens” I have a great skincare routine as well. I don’t look weird or different. Just less angry. 😆I’m not trying to look 20 I’m trying to look my best 55. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How refreshing! A dermatologist who doesn’t inject herself 🙌🏼 absolutely No judgment for anyone who does, but I truly feel beauty culture has gone too far with this. Thank you for such an informative video! ♥️

As a woman with moderate-severe hearing loss, I heavily depend on facial expressions and lip reading to understand what people are saying. It would be such a struggle to communicate with a Botox/frozen faced-person! That’s why I love how expressive you are, Dr. Maren! Don’t ever change that! ❤

As a licensed master esthetician, who has never done Botox or filler (I'll be 51 in Nov), I loved seeing this video. I never discourage or bash the treatment to clients, but I do try to educate them on the good, the bad, and the potential ugly of botox and filler. Most clients do it, some look great, others not so much. I feel as if I'm the only one who thinks about what the effects will be 20, 30 years down the road, especially for those who start in their early 20's. The thought of muscle atrophy is the fear that keeps me injection free. Will it take face freezing amounts to one day hold ones face up? What happens if you for whatever reason can no longer get it bc of illness, finances, tolerance? Some say the face wouldn't fall, that it would settle into what it looked like before botox, but I don't see how that's possible. Maybe in 5 or 10 years I'll feel differently, I do occasionally think hmm, should I, but something always stops me. So for now, I'll continue my retinoids, IPL, microdermabrasion, peels, microneedling and sunscreen. Thanks for the video, would love to see one on microneedling and ipl/bbl (broad band light, not Brazilian butt lift lol).

Age 67 with pretty good skin. Never had anything done to my face until mid July this year. Had 20 units of Botox injected into 11s during a routine derm visit for skin check. Had blurred vision, headache, left sided brow drop and dry eyes for 10 days afterwards. I was so worried that I went to see an ophthalmologist to make sure my eyes were ok. Then, after all that, the Botox wore off within 4 weeks or so. Paid $300 for that injection. I doubt that I would ever do that again.

My brother gets Botox to treat MS. His neurologist said that they were the first to use it, not dermatologists. I would never get it myself. In my humble opinion, people have developed a pathological fear of aging, and there is nothing on this earth that will stop you from getting older. That aside, it's very disturbing to be talking to someone whose face doesn't move.

I’m 73 and my daughter has told me that women her age 30 are encouraged to get “preventative “ Botox. I’m sending her this video.

I am 61, been doing botox for 15 years, never going to stop. Did Xeomin once it wore off too fast. Botox lasts up to 5 months for me.

I love the honesty and openness with which you address the topic. I also appreciate the words of caution to something that nowadays appears to have been normalize and people don’t stop to think about the possible consequences of using Botox.

Maybe you're one of the few sensible dermatologist out there! I appreciate the fact that you care about your viewers well being and blindly promoting random procedures

Thank you for this video! I’m 29, living in a major US city, and I know people my age who have gotten botox. I’m starting to see slight forehead wrinkles on myself, and with my anxiety around turning 30, I’ve thought about botox, but this video just convinced me to stick to my sunscreen, retinoid, and vitamin c.

I get Botox every 12 weeks for my migraines and it works so much better than than just taking prescription medications. (I have a TBI from my service in the Army) I still take a daily preventative and have onset medication on standby, but from someone who gets it for medicinal reasons, I love it, and the VA covers it 🥰

This video is so informative, I have felt the same way about botox and any other in-office treatments. I also have friends who get filler in the nose and under their eyes and that just scares me so much, I think that would be a great video topic, too.
