The Dangers of Botox & Filler | Peaches Skin Care

You guessed it, we're tackling #botox today.

So as you may have guessed, we are not huge fans of botox, or as it is scientifically known, #Botulinumtoxin. Being from southern california, this is something we tackle with both our clients and our friends and family nearly daily. Tackling it may be a bit of a strong word, but in reality its not. The huge popularity of botox in the #socal area is so prevalent that it's honestly more common to meet someone who has had it than it is to meet someone who hasn't had it or at least been exposed to it. From a young age many women, and more frequently men these days, are getting botox to look younger. But....why? Its an incredibly expensive treatment that requires more and more frequent injections to maintain an appearance that while it looks young, takes away many of the emotions that convey who we are and what we are actually feeling.

Botox is a chemical that is derived from botulinum toxin, one of the most poisonous natural compounds known to man, that when injected into the skin essentially deadens the nerves and muscles of the afflicted areas. There are at times medical reasons to use it, but the most common reason is to be and appear younger. It comes at the cost, though, of losing much of the emotion on your face! It's been mocked in movies, tv shows, radio programs, and many more because it's true. Botox is a quick fix for wrinkles, but it loses its efficacy the more often you use it and quickly becomes an expensive habit that is entirely avoidable.

THANK YOU LISA!! I’ve been a peach for just over 1 year and I found you just in time. I’m only 32 and when I was visiting my best friend from college she mentioned she started getting Botox and was pressuring me to go to a Botox party. I wasn’t even self conscious about my skin until she mentioned it so I kindly declined since it made me feel uncomfortable and I began to research like crazy, stumbled across your channel and never looked back. I love my peaches routine and look forward to it when I put my kids to sleep every night. I’ve been consistent and it’s starting to pay off since I’ve had a few mom friends who couldn’t believe I only wear mascara and some lipstick and no foundation or concealer. I send them all your way and tell them to ignore what your husband or spouse thinks about the milk of magnesia and frownies in bed…they are part of the magic! 😉
Keep doing what you are doing, women my age need to hear you preach!!
Sending all my love,
Irina

I was in my 30’s when I began working in a plastic surgeons office and Restalyn showed up on the scene the Dr injected some in my lips( I had been a bit of a “ Guinea Pig” for her) needless to say, I looked Marge Simpson and it truly was not beautiful… We need to change the dynamic here as Drew Barrymore said, she will never alter her face and “MEN need to let women know it’s ok to age”. For so long men have been told they look more handsome with the wrinkles and gray hair and women whose worth USED TO be tied to their femininity and youthfulness were washed up after 35. Lisa I always appreciate you and anyone who berates you on social media, take it as a badge of honor as you know you have arrived with a very POWERFUL message. ❤Elle

You ARE changing lives! I’m seeing this a year later and I’m so glad! I’m 58 and have never had anything done because something just didn’t seem right about injecting something we don’t really know super long term effects about. I’ve embraced aging and am not ashamed of it. It’s a privilege!
I’m so grateful for this education. Thank you!!❤

When I was in my 30s - which was aloooong time ago btw - botox was just starting to be commonly used cosmetically. A friend of mine (also in her 30s) went to get it because she was starting to see a few wrinkles. The doctor actually turned her away - guess he was one of the ethical ones - telling her that she didn't need it. He told her that botox can actually age the skin faster and she shouldn't have it done unless she was prepared to keep having it done for the rest of her life. He said it (botox) works by stretching out the skin and then freezing it (and the muscles under it) in place...so, no wrinkles (for a while) but, the problem is that after being stretched out for so long, the skin doesn't always snap back and, when it wears off, you can be left with slightly stretched out skin....I don't know if that is true but it does logically make sense (to me anyway) so I've never gone down that route...

One more time for the people in the back!!! 👏🏼. Put your egos aside and use your critical thinking skills. This woman can help you regardless of what you decide to do. No shame, no guilt… just facts. We love you, Lisa! 💞💥

I had Botox done once. A few days later I was putting on my mascara when my brow started to twitch on its on. I flipped out; called the office and their rep told me it was impossible to be from Botox. I was disturbed, and thought maybe Botox just wasn’t for me. No one ever said anything more about it. I waited a few years and tried Xeomin. After 3 rounds, I quit it. It left my eye lids so droopy that I’m now using Nira and microcurrent to correct hooded eye lids….and I’m under 40. Thank you Lisa for bringing up what no one wants to talk about.

I am grateful I couldn't afford botox at the age I thought I needed to start... I was brainwashed and self conscious reading the feelings of the women around me as I was a massage therapist in south orange county California almost a decade ago...
Something beautiful happened and I began not feeling the frequency of this, I refrained from watching tutorials from anyone touting their need for these alterations, and my heart cried for the young ones battering themselves on screen.

Sure, I got insecure at times. I never joined any social media that triggered it to bother me. I am just keep reminding myself to be grateful for this freedom!

P.s. thank you again Lisa for your true speak that got me to stop scraping my face with my fake at home microderm abrasion device. 🙏💗

I’ve had Botox 3 times over the last 15 years. Is this enough to cause adverse effects? After seeing this video I’m not getting anything done. All of this makes perfect sense.

THANK YOU for this video!!! I'm an acupuncturist for 20+ years. I have done many facelift acupuncture treatments together with treating with the internal dynamics as is the whole body works together. For years I've seen women have so many secondary issues from botox and there are NO DOCTORS talking about this!!! Women suddenly develop issues and no one connects the dots. Amazing! 😢
I'm 56 yes old feel amazing look good for my age, and that's from being dedicated to my overall well-being and not abusing my body with alcohol or smoking. I doubt that the medical world will ever admit anything from botox use. Like you said, there's too much $$$ at stake. In my younger years i wormed with a plastic surgeon for 6 years and saw first hand how a facelift is done, and when i saw how all the fascia is cut, and at the time i was studying massage therapy and understanding the crucial importance of the fascia, i immediately realized what a horror women are doing to their face. Luckily i was so young at the time and began my journey on paying attention to not just my inner health, but started massaging my face everyday, using coconut oil, castor oil and this was back in the 80's. Women need to wake up to the horrors the medical beauty industry is doing to them.

Omg, I would never alter my face, I am going out with the same face I came in with!!!!..God doesn’t make mistakes, I am not the most beautiful woman in the world, but, I am not taking any chances of looking worse!!!!…I would rather use products or things I can do at home to age gracefully!…66 years old, and loving I am still healthy and alive!!!…awesome video, Lisa!!!…thank you for getting the message out love and appreciation!!!…💜💜💜💜💜💜

Thank you for bringing this topic to the forefront, Lisa. I found you because I was looking for ways to decrease the bags under my eyes, & all I saw were videos about lasers, micro needling, fillers, or surgery. Your videos & teachings are so refreshing! But most of all, (with time, diligence & patience), they are working for me. I've been a Peach since June of 2022 (so now nine months?) & I just had another woman tell me that I'm aging backwards. It does take time, & patience isn't often our strong suit 😉 - not mine at least!!

So, thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. You are more appreciated than you know 💕

Personally I think its ok for everyone to age the way they want. I'm nearly 100% gray but opt for Xeomin in my forehead and masseter muscles (I grind and clench 24/7 so this is saving my teeth). I do this because I like the way it looks and I enjoy not having to fish makeup out of my forehead lines due to my oily skin. I have had lip filler and am not sure I will continue that in the future. I think it's nice to offer alternatives because there should be something available to everyone at every price point and at everyone's comfort level. But I can say that I was never pressured into this (by society or my injector) and no one should be pressured to get anything done if they don't wish to. The older I get the more I believe in the live and let live mentality.

That is something that needs to be talked about more, the atrophy of the facial muscles. Use it or you lose it. If you use the botox enough eventually when you stop, or when it wears off, your face will look like it has fallen as it has lost it's ability to function properly, so then you think see I look old without the botox, when perhaps you would have looked better had you never started.

I think more people need to look outside themselves for some gratitude to live a fuller life. We do need to take care of ourselves and respect our bodies, but look away from the mirror and out into the world. I think we are seeing the damage done from too many people young and old, only concerned with appearances and no one taking the time to care about their relationships, how they treat people and the planet. It's all so self absorbed and we can see the crumbling of society because of it.

Yay! Keep preaching it Lisa. So sad to see beautiful young women blowing up their beauty by chasing perfection. They just look unnatural.
