Im a pianist but this is why Im focused on learning guitar. Its so fucking easy produce a song with guitar, you dont even need to know music theory just how to TOUCH 2 or 3 chords, arpeggiate, imagination and thats it.

But lowkey when I started learning guitar I started waking up with bits of fully produced-sounding songs in my head. The other day I shook my boyfriend awake and told him I heard a White Lies song called "Have a piece of bread".

He loves White Lies and bread, so I think that one was supposed to land in his head and accidentally ended up in mine.

Maybe it's magic, maybe the more you engage with a skill, the more your unconscious brain keeps working on it too? Idk but it's fun.

Practicing your scales seems to help with the melody, and noting things you hear people say to help with lyrics

I usually seem to be able to improv a melody when I start practicing my scales. I'm sure if I ever take a notepad to work and note what people say to each other at the tables I'd be able to come up with song lyrics
