Thank you David, started playing when I was 12 years old, old school rock 'n roll, played by ear, my mom one day made a statement to play with emotion and that has always stuck with me. I always gravitated toward rhythm guitar And dug around in each cord treating each string as an individual voicing like an individual group of singers But always with an emotional element. I'm now 68 years old And for the last month or so I've been watching your videos And have stepped back and literally leaped forward to a completely new level of expression that I have always told people that the music comes from your heart and the guitar is an instrument to funnel it through. What you are sharing on your channel David is very inspirational and solid, and your ability to slow things down and your explanations and how to listen to your inner voice I truly believe that it is unlocking a talent that lives within each individual guitarist. Thank you brother for taking the time, because time is a very precious gift we sometimes forget to use to our benefit, keep it slow, play and whisper from your heart, and let the music that lives within each of us leap forward.

Even if I've been playing for hours, I watch one of your videos, then pick the guitar back up again. Always inspiring to be shown how to play rather than what to play... Cheers.

It's interesting that so many of us knew this at one time, but we got lost in the adrenaline.

Out of all the guitar tutorials I’ve watched over the years regarding soloing. This had to be the most well explained video of all. Phrasing, lazy playing like Hendrix, non-mechanical, telling a story. Man… This is exactly what I need to add to my playing. Thank you sir for the master lesson!

Dude what the ACTUAL FUCK?! That was a HUGE lesson. Much more of a "guru" or a spiritual guide to guitar music than average youtube scale 1+1=2 lessons out there. Your content is *great* :D

Excellent lesson! People get tired of hearing just notes. David Gilmour didn’t play 32nd notes. Or even four measures of 16th triplets. But man can he pull your emotions along!

That part where you introduce yourself with respect to metronome just made my life easier and was the answer of a question which I looked for years already ❤

Hi David... Thank you! I have played around with guitar for about 42 years, and I must say... You have hit the nail on the head with your approach. You are a master at explaining the exact meaning of all these concepts! I honestly want to thank you. I so enjoy listening to your "lessons" and am relearning what I could never put words to, which is so refreshing! Please, keep up your appreciated work.

Wow! Such a unique lesson on YT!! Nobody mentioned on YT that the heart needs to take it slow! Thanks, David for the different mindset a guitarist must have while playing licks/soloing.

This is the only channel that talks about incorporating your emotion and heart a ton in playing, which I believe is equally important I guess more than learning fancy techniques... Hehehe...

Ooh...I always play with pauses and laziness. I'm relieved to learn it's a GOOD thing. Thank you!

Thank you David! Your lessons always remind me that keeping it simple is what makes my music. I can get so lost in the rabbit hole of trying so hard to play like my guitar heros. Thanks for bringing me home.

Best channel I’ve found on creating lead lines! I hit a brick wall last night in my studio, I never thought I would find such a clear answer. You saved me from going out and buying a new guitar, which I thought was the problem. Thanks a million, David!

Excellent...

When you did your 2 versions of 'Hello, my name is David', Pink Floyd immediately came to mind for the 2nd version - very effective example.

You said something that hit me right between my guitar playing brain!
If you haven’t done much studio time or are about to go into the studio for you’re first time, OR played on studio tracks and absolutely hated it, because I prefer playing live, however I recall laying a solo track down on a song early on in my career, I just threw in what I thought would be hot, kinda flashy (show off a bit) I’ll never forget the studio engineer say in my headset “Hey Greg, on the solo…think Clapton” I got what he meant and all was good.
I think one of the best lessons in playing a solo or lead in intro is to introduce yourself! Just like you said. Play, if you will “Hi, my name is Greg”. Fit the song. On a slow kind of bluesy song you want a remembered hook (on guitar) that pops its head up in the mix just enough for the listener to almost pass by it but in reality it’s going to come back and be recognizable, and identifiable concerning you as an artist.
Wow deep, but I thought that was an outstanding takeaway from this video. Hope this makes sense. I haven’t finished the entire video but really enjoying this! Thanks man
