VIDEO | Escaped murderer Danelo Cavalcante arrested after 2 weeks on the run in Pennsylvania

(AP) Escaped murderer Danelo Souza Cavalcante has been captured after eluding hundreds of searchers for two weeks in rural southeastern Pennsylvania. Wednesday's announcement by state police brings relief to anxious residents. Police say Cavalcante's heat signal was picked up around 1 a.m. from an aircraft, but storms prevented teams from continuing to track him until the morning. Teams later moved in with search dogs. No shots were fired during the capture. Cavalcante broke out of the Chester County jail Aug. 31 while awaiting transfer to a state prison to serve a life sentence for fatally stabbing an ex-girlfriend in 2021.
