Restaurant Style Yellow Rice

Yellow (Turmeric) Rice

1.5 cups basmati rice, washed and drained
3 cups water
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 shallots, finely chopped (or half a red onion)
1.5 tsp ground turmeric
2 bay leaves
3 whole cloves
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp low sodium chicken bouillon paste (or powder)
1.5 tsp salt (or to taste)

I imagine if you want to do this with a rice cooker, just follow the first steps until everything is incorporated on the stovetop and then pour everything into the rice cooker.

This is Indian yellow rice. There's also Mexican yellow rice. You might wish to specify such things. Looks good.

You need to rinse the rice or it will be sticky!!
