This could not have been posted at a more perfect time. This type of desensitization is what we are currently struggling with right now, especially with lunging and barking. It makes me realize my dog isn't permanently broken or something lol. Thank you!!

This gives me sooo much hope. If zaks own dog is still slightly overacting to seeing other dogs and hes a dog trainer, i dont feel like a complete failure to my dogs. But also encourages me to keep going with my training.

my dog has been doing this more frequently. i think living in an apartment and not being able to go out like we used to has made her more anxious. thank you for posting this video!

She has come such a long way since the last few months! She would be so overwhelmed in an environment like that just a couple months ago. Good job Zak.

I really appreciate your series with Inertia because I always weirdly thought that a dog that knows a lot of tricks is also a dog that behaves well and listens to you off leash and in situations with a lot of distractions and I realized that I realized that those 2 things are not neccesarily correlated and that the second one takes a lot more time and patience as it is also more important

This series is so human. I have a 6 month old rough collie who gets WAY too excited when he sees other dogs (he was fine until the virus limited his socialisation opportunities unfortunately) and your series has helped me a lot in understanding his behaviour and helping both of us learn!

As a fellow trainer, this is the type of video I want to see. Threshold talk without the technical words. Love love love. These videos are the kind I give my clients to follow when I can't be there to help them. (AKA COVID) Thank you Zak!

We are currently building up a strong "No" command for pigeons or cats whatever. With dogs it's "watch me" or "move on" when we walk past another dog. Took us time, frustration and a lot of clicks and treats and tears to get this far. Training takes time but you're doing so great! Her leash manners are so lovely !!♡

My Labrador used to lunge and bark at people, dogs, cats anything in sight when we first had him. It took a lot of work and because he was so big (he was 75lbs) I had to buy a headcollar for him to control the pulling so he could get his focus on me quicker. He's better with people now. I don't use the headcollar as much now he's better behaved but he will still pull like a train to see another dog walking on the same side of the street as us.

My trainer loves your training methods and even uses some of them to help me train my own girl. Keep up the amazing work with inertia

Thank you!!! This is THE only video that I’ve found that actually shows you in a REAL situation how to train. I love how you show your dog lunging and barking first, then show how you correct it. This is the only thing I’ve been struggling with what to do with my 16 week old lab (who’s doing brilliantly in so many ways) but the lunging and occasional bark or growl has been stressing me out and I wasn’t sure how to correct it. I tried your training from this vid this morning where I live and outside a busy school (lots of dogs and kids) and he done brilliantly for his first go! I’ll be doing this every morning until I feel he’s more desensitised to it. Great video and training! I feel I can now breath again knowing how to move forwards in a positive way and enjoy my walks more.

I love this series with Inertia. Not only is it a better guideline in my opinion, but it walks us through the process of raising a dog from day 1. Your other videos while it did teach us good training techniques and some psychology, it seemed to picture perfect and easy even if it wasn't. An easy way to fix this is to describe what you would have done if she didn't listen or behave. In any case, this series does let us see some of the problems that occur in the beginning stages, or even the late stages of raising a dog. Thanks and keep it up!

This is what I'm dealing with currently. My year old GSD loves to guard. I just have to teach her how much is acceptable. She had no clue what I wanted from her so she was wingin it!! An absolute wild woman. She's doing much better now but that initial bark and lunge stops her from making friends. I tell her "enough!" and she stops. But they're still scared.

Love when she stays and backs up 👍🏼 when she is told! Amazing job
I need to socialize my dog more also, she is overreacting around other dogs, people, kids all the time. Can't imagine spending time in the park surrounded by sooo many distractions.

Zak, I don’t know how likely you are to see this comment, but I just want to say thank you. Because of Quarantine, my family got a new puppy to keep us occupied. Ever since, I have worshiped your videos and used them for all of my training with the new puppy. Your videos are so helpful and my mom calls me the dog training expert because I watch your videos, so I just want to say thank you for teaching me all I know and being so helpful to others, you are amazing!

i love how Zac set her up for success and then builds upon that. He empowers Inertia to make decisions and to truly learn (over time) what is expected and acceptable. Such a beautifully structured relationship!
