I heard about diatomaceous earth--look up magnified images of diatoms; they are beautiful! Anyway, I bought a food-grade version to use on soft-bodied insects in the garden. I put some in an old tennis can with holes poked in the top to shake it out. You can also eat food-grade diatomaceous earth. I don't remember why you would want to but hey, you can look it up. So I tried it today with some of my homemade Greek-style yogurt. You can judge for yourself what I thought of the taste!
