The Riggory of Drag Race All Stars 9

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 9 was a wild ride from start to finish. From the charity twist to nobody going home to the very controversial finale, there was a lot of talk about this season online. So today, we're going to look at every episode of AS9 and talk about what was fair and what was not. We'll look at every lip sync, every top placement, and every twist to determine if All Stars 9 was rigged.

Was Angeria's win deserved? Was Roxxxy robbed? Were queens like Jorgeous and Gottmik overlooked? We'll answer all of these questions.

They were all assigned dancers to help them with their talent shows, and Shannel was the only one who didn't need those dancers. Her talent spoke for itself.

I low key feel like the reason Plastique looked so pissed off when she wasn't announced in the top 3 was because it was the one lipsync she genuinely prepared for.

plastique and shannel are the true winners of the talent show imo. i’m not denying angie and vanjie’s talent but i feel like when a lot of ppl are doing the same thing it’s gonna make everyone else stand out more. i would’ve been fine if jorgeous was in the top too.

It's so bizarre that Angie absolutely had the best track record and fully deserved to win the season, but the way she was edited the last few episodes and then the insane riggory of the finale suddenly made it feel like she shouldn't have been there. If it had been Angie, Roxxy and Plastique in the finale on the other hadn and it came down to Angie and Roxxy with Angie winning... that would felt completely right. But the rigging of Vanjie into the final and Angie being dragged along on the same "twist" completely undermined her win, which is completely unfair on her.

Angeria winning makes me so happy, I just wish they had set it up differently so it didn’t seem like she’s a weak winner when she was a threat on both seasons she competed on

At this point it's in Drag Race production's DNA to make the poor decisions that set the winner up to bad fan reception. Anyone could see from miles away that the 3 star final challenge would be hated again, and that the song choice for final lipsync would benefit the queen they weren't going to crown again. They WANT us to be mad at their choices. I hope they pay for the winner's therapy, cuz it must be hard being put in this situation.

Another part of the format that they need to retire is putting the variety show all the way at the end of the season. When it's the first challenge, it sets the tone for each contestant and gets you excited about what else you'll see from them in the competition. It also sets the contestants up for better performances because it's right out of the gate and they have full energy rather than at the end when they are mentally and physically drained. For some reason, when it's the very last challenge, it just feels like a throw away episode.

The last minute rigging in the talent show completely flatlined the season for me how Shannel and plastique didn’t make top 2 for the talent show is wild to me. Left a bad taste in my mouth. This season showed me why no eliminations doesn’t work unless it’s for winners with very clear bttm performances that still get praise. Vanjie and Angeria were not top 2 for the talent show like the mouth drop I had was insane.

Plastique deserved to be Top3!!!! To win? That's debatable but she deserves to have been up there with Angie and Roxxy 😭

One thing that’s so wild for me about this season is that Nina West, one of the most beloved Miss Congenialities in the franchise, became clowned on so hard this season. People dunked on her pretty hard, like saying her Paint Ball outfit was the new LaLa Ri bag outfit (it wasn’t), and saying she wasn’t that funny. She’s out there doing SO much for the community, putting smiles on so many faces, and has performed with some amazing people. It’s insane to me that this is the trajectory she’s gone on, since she does deserve better.

I watch Allstars purely becuase I am a fan of dragrace. I typically encourage newcomers to watch a regular season of drag race before watching allstars, as it's quite toned down. I think Allstars is truly for the superfans of dragrace, not the average viewer at this point. There is too much conflict between what the queens want, what production wants, and what the fans what, to truly make Allstars iconic again. Untucked was quite boring, and I'm not sure what the future holds for the franchise.

the reason it felt rigged is because Vangie was at the top 3. if it was either Jorgeous, Plastique or Shanel, everything would feel right. dont get me wrong, i love Vangie but she wasn't build-up throughout the season.

Even after plastique's amazing showcase on the show people STILL underestimate her and say she's just a money queen. Like girl, money doesn't buy style, comedy, performances

about the point of "if you (producers) want them to win, at least set them up to succeed. Giving Jinkx Swish swish? giving Angeria rhythm nation?"
I believe they did it on purpose. They WANT the win to be divisive. They want people to tweet and post about it.
Jinkx clearly did the best on AS7, she had the most wins and most season highlights. Giving Monet a song with a Nicki verse will ALWAYS result in Monet winning, against pretty much anyone. They wanted that.
Same goes for Angeria beating Roxxxy. They knew Roxxxy was the fan favorite this season. They knew she would win a lip sync against anyone in that cast, especially to a throwback song. But Angeria did better in challenges. She had no weak moments.

Serena Cha Cha has proven you can do everything right, win the most challenges (tied), wear the most insane fashion, show so much growth, display your culture unabashedly and beautifully, but if the show doesn’t see you in their final plan, you will be cast aside.

The Meeting in the Ladies Room had such a weird and slow pace. Knowing now about the tele prompter, it makes more sense. But the structure of the scene itself wouldn't work much better if they all knew their lines.
