Here it is guys Zen 3 Ryzen 7 5800X vs Zen 2 Flagship Ryzen 9 3950X. This took quite a while so I hope you guys find this useful. A few things I would like to note is all components used in this test were exactly the same, even the ram timings as it is the same Rig I just popped out the 3950X and put in the 5800X.

A few other things to note is that the performance you are seeing on screen for the 6800 XT was captured with Relive so there is a performance hit, however the results presented are with normal gaming condition without the performance hit.

Fantastic comparison! I went from a 3900x to a 5800x and am very satisfied with the move. It is neat though to see how a couple games can really leverage those extra cores to keep up with the ipc/ clockspeed jumps on the 5800x. I love where pc technology is going!!! Thanks for the video dude.

Performance in 1 Generation difference in ryzen cpu's is what we used to get in intel's 4 or 5 gen gaps

Looking at this the 3950x looks like a much better option. It is very close at 1440/4K at lower clock speeds and using less power. On top of that you have an extra 8 cores on tap. Overclock the 3950x (and it overclocks very well) and you gain parity.

3950x ran cooler and used less power tho, and had a lower frequency which was locked. Lock the 5800x to 4.2 as well and do a 1:1 comparison.

Well I was expecting it to perform better, but I guess since you're GPU bound in all of these scenarios, it wasn't going to make much of a difference.

Now that AMD is making such amazing CPUs I hope intel gives us better generational jumps too. I'm really excited to see what Alder-lake will be like. I think Zen 4 will crush it too but still, I love technology getting better, not companies. I can't wait to upgrade my old 4770. Hopefully, get 16 gigs of ram as well cause most new games are not playable at decent settings. Most games have problems with my pc but are fine with it as long as it's close to 30fps it's playable. :D
