Orwell's 1984 — 10 things I noticed on rereading his magnum opus

*** SPOILER ALERT! Depending on how much you already know about the plot of 1984, my point #10 reveals a lot about the character of O'Brien. As it's now 40 years since the time in which the book is set, I've just reread 1984. It's started me off down a rabbithole of reading and research into Orwell's work, his life, and the authors that he was inspired by, and those that he would go on to inspire.

In this video, I make 10 observations about the text, including some that consider the biographical context of Orwell's life and how that may have influenced his plot and characters.

Whether you are intimately familiar with the text, studying it in class, or are thinking about reading it for the first time, there's hopefully something interesting for you in this video, and I haven't held back from sharing one or two slightly leftfield interpretations.
