Just read the book, its indefinite relevance up to today makes it such an important read and helps you understand more about modern day politics, censorship, etc

MAYBE it is April 1984...the protagonist is not sure...no way of confirming that. And the first sentence is interesting, "Clocks were staging 13, it was 13:00" That is a paraphrase, but the sentence was something like that, and that is deliberately done, there is no clock that is sticking 13 times.

You should also read 'Prey World' by Alexander Merow. It is more connected to our present time

Really good video but slightly inaccurate. I think Julia is only introduced on page 11 when Winston returns to work, he doesn't write about her in the notebook. Also she's not named until much later.

For some reason this review has some kind of sarcastic feel to it, as if it’s not a prophesy book but some kind of satire. The world described there is exactly as my world outside right now.
