The food on submarines is well known to be of higher quality than that of other Navy ships. Submarines stop at foreign ports during deployment, during which most Sailors are granted Liberty. Also, you get paid more to work on a submarine, and since you have fewer shipmates aboard, the chance for faster promotion is greater.

I was attached to a 688 & 688i boat for 7 years. I don't regret it...but I don't want to repeat it either 😂

Possibly the scariest place to be on the planet.
Being hunted. In a tiny metal can, with no windows. Underwater.

I just enlisted with the US Navy and I took a job on Submarines as a SECF. I cannot wait until I am a Sailor and I defiantly cannot wait until I'm a Submariner!

On a fast attack(the smaller of the 2 types of subs in the USN) you basically just find space where you can, mostly the engine room. Our treadmill was to the port side of the main engine. If you were very tall it wasn't easy to actually use it though with a pipe right in your face.

Stepped on board my first submarine before my 18th birthday. No PS 3 (or ANY gaming consoles) back then. No email either. Months underwater without surfacing takes a special kind of person. What is it like on a submarine...kind of like holding a MENSA meeting at a biker bar!!

Like how they show nice sea images, but most crew it's down inside for the whole trip.

At 0:31, that officer has a gold Oak Leaf on the left collar and cap, and a silver Oak Leaf on the right. Or is it because of light the other 2 appear to be gold?

I was a bubblehead I spent 7 years on boomers 1 patrol on a fast attack and life is hell until you get qualified and make at least e-4 I got out as a e5 and went to my first boat as e3 you pick what bunk you sleep in by your rank e-1 and 2 usually get stuck hat racking sometimes but always have to sleep near the steps or in the torpedo room I was qualified after the first patrol and made e-4 before my 2nd patrol good luck
Life gets better the higher and more qualified you are I

EM3(SS) here, this video is pretty accurate except for it's a little bit fluffed up to advertise submarines. If you have no fish, you are a nobody. Get hot.
