I see alot of comments on "This isn't Chinatown". When I uploaded the video I didn't know any better so forgive me and enjoy this amazing scene.
Have a great day <3

I can’t believe the studio wanted this scene cut. Sure, it may not add much to the plot, but it’s gorgeous to look at, and I think it’s a great tone-setter. When Rachel enters Singapore, all she can observe are the friendly faces, the vibrant colors, the exquisite architecture, and the delicious food. It all helps set her up before she meets Nick’s mother and is rudely awakened from the initial fairytale.

And I reiterate, it’s just a gorgeous segment. A bit of good old-fashioned food porn.

This place is not Singapore’s Chinatown, it’s a hawker center near town known as “Newton food centre”.

It's really a thing with us Asians. The super rich acts like normal citizens. I live in Indonesia, even one of the richest person here (the head of Djarum group) acts like a normal citizen. Eats at places like in the video, wearing normal plain clothes, very much down to earth. If you look at him in an instance, you wouldn't even know that he has shares in multiple banks, owns a large tobacco company, charity groups, and so on. At a glance, you wouldn't believe it that this old guy is like crazy rich. The only person who recognize him (and managed to take a snapshot of him sitting on a table, alone) is the food vendor where he usually eats, just like the old man hugging Nick.

Westerners: wow, Singapore street food looks awesome!

Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia: we haven’t unleashed our great power yet

Went here a week ago (I'm a tourist) and the Newton Food Centre where they shoot this scene is like a ghost town. Went there about 7/8 pm and there are other tourists standing there confused like my husband and I did. It look like the place is past its glory days. Sad to see that. The taxi driver after actually recommend us to go to the Hawker food centre instead.

I love this movie and as a fan currently travelling in Singapore, I visited this Hawker centre this evening on a Saturday night. The place was buzzing just like in the movie! You better believe the food was also amazing ❤

This is the reality of Malaysian/Singaporean hawker centers, where you have to know at least three diff languages/dialects depending on the stall owner lol!

0:45 (in Malay): Satay 20 (sticks), 10 chicken, 10 meat (beef)
0:53 (in Mandarin Chinese): Laksa, 2 bowls. 1 of the bowls with extra chili.
0:58 (in Hokkien Chinese (i think? I'm not sure, there are too many Chinese dialects outside of standardized school Mandarin)): Thank you.

I used to live over the road from this place and used to eat there every night on the way home from work. My favorite was “spicy seafood rice” that would set me back 5$. I’d eat it every day and put on loads of weight

This scene brought to you by Singapore Tourism Board....No really they collaborated with the film makers
