it is also important to look into the issue of why students of reputed schools also go to coaching classes. As a student of a reputed school of my city, I can tell that often school teachers do not teach up to the mark in schools, so that students attend their coachings. It's a nasty business.

The problem is not only with not enough schools or teachers it is about the mindset of Indian parents . They only want their children to be engineers or doctors . These coaching institutes are taking advantage of this toxic mindset . As a doctor myself I know what I've gone through . It's hell . Our society need to see all jobs as equal . There are medical entrances all around the world but this happens only in india .

As a class 11 student, I am very happy by the steps taken by government, hope they are implemented strictly.

Even private schools are shit in India. Teachers in my school think that students will study from tuitions. In this way the students that do not go to tuition are forced to take it up. CBSE is legendary in this country. It suddenly changes exam patterns, makes it more difficult, does not release sufficient material and still emphasizes on rote learning.

I wished this had been implemented 5 years ago in my 12th standard.
I hope this move relieves some pressure from students.

I visited Finland and saw that kids there are happy, playing outdoors, having time off, pursuing what they want to pursue, unlike India, where kids overwork themselves studying, to turn into slaves to the market. India can learn from countries like Finland, which have higher happiness indices, where children are not forced into competition with each other but the community thrives together. I am saying this as an Indian who holds a PhD in higher education. Education should empower us, not cripple us.

I used to take 5 private tuitions in 12th, 4 for PCMB and one for English .. Someone in my class had 12 tuitions, 2 for each subject.. This is extremely common in my state.. The main reason is school never completes the whole syllabus, they simply can't complete due to lack of time.. Most of the teachers' way of teaching is not good, you can't ask doubts, some students create disturbance all the time... But those disturbing students become diligent in private tuition..

Our physics teacher also used to give private tuition and if you don't go to this tuition you'll get less marks in practical.. He thought really well but only in tuition, in school he was awful..

If school teachers start teaching then students won't be so much dependent on coaching or private tuition.

a message to parents from a 30 year old, sending a kid to school and having them diligently study inside the house is more than enough for academics. Just because you are too busy with your job to be able to pay attention to your kid doesn't mean you have to make there life a living hell. A topper will still top the results with or without tuition. Your school days werent that hard, dont make it harder for your children.
As a kid, I took coaching classes to a point where I barely had time to socialize when I was in high school. You are to blame for around 90% of student suicides. Dont drive them crazy at such a young age and dont act like a victim when you see them hanging from the roof with no life in them.

Regulating coaching is good but fix the root cause ..
1. There are not enough seats in govt college vs population.
2. 50% seats are taken up in reservation
3. The pattern of exam for board and competitive exam is completely different
4. No good trade schools where those not clearing for top colleges can get quality education for middle level jobs

CORRECTION :There are only 25 Thousand seats for General Category students in NEET. My All india rank in 2022 was 29k out of 21 Lakh & i didn't get a seat. In 2023 i got All india rank 3303 & then i got a seat in GMC.

I remember, there was a time, when tuition was considered an option for lagging in school exam, like only low rankers go to tution.
Now it has became a trend. Self studying is considered a lame option.
And I wonder, how hard could it be, for a student to self study when we have free AI tools to help to understand? How do they manage to underscore besides the availability of range of options?

As a neet aspirant and Allenites I can confirm, she said everything true . In Kota students comes all over India from class 6th for prep of jee and neet . And the pressure at very tender age broke us from inside and the major reason for suimcide . Per year we spend average 5 lac here .

Better late than never, a long awaited step in the right direction. The whole education industry should be regulated stringently as the greedy businesses are ruining families and lives in the name of coaching!

I was also a victim of this strategies they brainwashed my parents to take admission and later I ended up wasting a year facing challenges, went into depression....at that time I thought of committing suicide too but thanks to my parents who helped me got through it.

This is a personal reflection: I am a 54-year-old Dutch-Indonesian who spent three years in Indonesia receiving coaching for university entrance. I was accepted into my dream study, university, and job, but personally, I do not find it worthwhile. At a later stage in my life, I have experienced various health issues, including depression, due to the heavy burden of stress from high school to the present. Looking back, I would not want any of my family members to go through the same. I am grateful to my parents for their support, and my unhappiness is not worth their sacrifice.

I'm myself a student in 11th preparing for jee. I understand that the government wants to decrease the pressure and reduce this misleading business, but this law isn't much beneficial since still there are no restrictions over private tutoring and small group tutoring. Now, the high class family will be able to afford these types of tuitions whereas a middle classed family or a family which is not well-to-do can't afford these private tuitions. This will create a clear separation between the students having these private tuitions and the ones who aren't.
