Cracked heels| How to manage | Dermatologist suggests

▪️Cracked heels are a common complaint. It affect an individuals who have dry skin more than others. It becomes increasingly more common as we age.

➡️The most important part of treating a cracked heel is to moisturise it well.

👩‍⚕️Remember that cracked heel could be a part of skin disorder like eczema or psoriasis. Please consult your dermatologist if you have long standing cracked heels not improving with moisturisers.

▪️Here is a simple routine you can follow:
☀️Morning : use a thick moisturiser
🌃Evening: cream with urea.
🗓️Twice a week: on soaked clean feet, apply urea and glycolic or lactic acid based cream
🧦Can wear a thin cotton soaks for 2 hours after this.

❌Avoid scrubbing
❌Avoid foot spoon
❌Avoid pumice stone
❌Avoid harsh pedicures
❌Avoid woollen or wool mixed socks

❄️If you live in a cold climate, wear a layer of cotton socks over which woollen socks can be worn.

I gotta say though, grinding off the dead skin is the ONLY way ive ever gotten rid of cracks. Of course followed by intense moisturizing, but the cracks just get worse if i don't use an abrasive first, and to maintain it.

Not gonna lie but I used Vaseline on my heels and then I wore a plastic bag and wore a pair of socks. Worked good for me!

for cracked heal you can do a good pedicure. It will help a lot. Remember to use foot file(steel one+The black one to smoothen the cracks). It helped me a lot.
