i thought at the beginning he was trying to tell me the reason my dog chases cars is because i spend so much time going out to get dog food.

I just loved this. My issue is that I expect results maybe too quickly and it was great to see the 'baby steps' approach with a really difficult dog.

That beginning clip is my dog every time a car passes. I’ve been working on loose leash walking and heel but he still pulls the whole walk and lunes at cars, He will be 1 year old soon. I’ve been socializing him and bringing him out in public around people and dogs but he still does it. I will try these tips. Thank you!!

This video was so helpful for me! I currently have a 4 month old sheltie who is lunging at cars, though not as voraciously as Brody. Thanks to your videos he has already come quite a long way with training and I see him making progress everyday! Thanks again!

I do not think his car fixation has anything to do with anxiety or fear. He is a herding dog and it is common for them to fixate on movement and/or moving lights. I do 100% agree with the leave it/look at me training. I have BCs and it is a common issue.Love Zak and his videos.

Great video! I watched the video and started following your instructions. I have a shetland sheepdog named Bambi that can't stop chasing and lunging at cars. After one week this obsession is starting to get under control. Thanks from me and Bambi. Keep up the good work!

Zak -- I watch a lot of your videos, but I REALLY wanted to thank you for this one. Our Kirra is a rescue, and this is her scariest habit. Breaking this habit will be a lot of work, but I appreciate how you broke it down into tiny, manageable steps. We got professional help to work with the actual desensitizing, but working on "look" and "leave it" is definitely something that we can do safely. Thanks for giving us hope!!

Ok, I sure hope this method will work on my Shetland Sheepdog, Cooper. He's been barking and lunging at vehicles for 9 years now! It's never too late:)

I've been doing this twice a day with my dog for 4 months now. We've got a lot closer to the road, we were initially about 80 meters away and now we're about 5. But it's been that way for the last 2 months with no progress. Cars are just far more appealing than treats.

Wow this really did help.. my dog likes to lunge at cars, motorcycles and bicycles. First try and she was already responsive to it.. Thank you

I have my work cut out for me with my 9 month old German Shepard. Weird part is she didn't start acting that way towards traffic till recently. Usually it was only people she doesn't know and other dogs that got her very energetic. I will definitely try this.

This was probably rushed, but I think the main idea here was to show his methods to the owner, so she could use it to train her dog herself until it is comfortable.

His videos aren't about results, it's all about methods of teaching.

Oh so happy I fell on this video while researching on Google... I have this same problem and with a Shetland sheepdog too 😂😂 these dogs seriously... Training is perfect, I have started practicing this method even when walking my dog... Gonna keep doing it!! Thanks 🙏😊

Jak, great video! I learn something new in every video you make and I appreciate your training methods and your kindness toward dogs and their parents.I read the arguments about Cesar that sometimes trickle down to your comment pages. I've seen every episode of Cesar. He has some good points but he makes me terribly uncomfortable. I don't believe anyone needs to poke or kick a dog to get results. I've seen every episode of Victoria Stillwell. I've seen all your videos and your TV show that aired in America. I've read countless books about training and the behavior of dogs. I am not a trainer (as you know) but I have a well of information to sift through but I always come back to you and your training methods. You don't train a dog in 15 minutes. You start training them and you build a trust and a willingness between dog and wo/man to want to do what is at hand. You know I'm a happy member of the Dog Training Revolution! Why posters feel that they have to come here and applaud Cesar, I just dont know. It's not necessary for them to get defensive or, certainly, come here to promote themselves! LOL! Oh well, carry on and keep doing what you do. We're listening! Love you and Bree!

I just rehomed/ rescued a Border collie who had been caged his whole life & only came out to be used as a stud dog. Despite everything he is incredibly sweet but this is his biggest issue atm, we live on a road where cars are driving past all day and he goes nuts!! Thanks for the video😊

great video Zak, my mutt Sno Belle' is a terrier cross, learned this bad habit from the neighborhood dog's...I intend on fixing this issue asap and have now brought her training to the front of the house when its busy outside. typically from 3pm to 4pm we work on our basic training with her treats. In the beginning I've had the hardest issue with keeping her attn on me but recently discovered she's blind in one eye. Still we've learned that cheese is her chocolate and we started her training when the busses and kids come back from school. So far "leave it alone, " seems to be our best strategy and keep in mind this is all without a leash on or her collar. #Progress #consistency

Great video. Would love a follow up on how this dog progresses as his owner takes over your training methods.
