I am Lebanese war refugee, I left Lebanon in 93, I was sixteen. I visited Beirut exactly a year ago on August 2 of 2019. It was evident to me Lebanon was on the decline and something major was about to take place. As a Lebanese, I am sad to say that Lebanon is now a failed state. The government is influenced by Iran and taken hostage by Hezbollah.Christian are divided and the same warlord from the 80s are still in power. The country is bankrupt and the people are going hungry. There is no money, no jobs, no opportunity, there is no unity or hope for Lebanese ppl. The war is coming, and that is the only way Lebanon can cleanse itself from the evil doers and foreign countries. Yes, a third republic is a must.

Calling lebanon a independent democratic nation is joke when every single decision needs the approval of both Iran and Saudi Arabia... external influences is a major factor as to why there is a political paralysis and a highly corrupt environment.

I always wanted to be a Prime Minister of my country Lebanon. But too Bad Im not allowed since Im A Shia Muslim and that is to me is an abuse to my dignity. All Lebanese no matter their faith should be able to become a president, Prime Minister, Speaker. Just because Im a shia muslim my right is being denied and my dream is dead.

honestly there's some genius to the concept (idk about the execution), because it explicitly forbids a majority rule. and also means that only people from the same religion can compete with each other.

Lebanon political system pretty much goes together with Bosnia political system which was setup according to the Dayton agreement by western powers they did pretty much same thing in Lebanon too in Bosnia there is a serb representing the serb orthodox Christians in the country a croat representing the catholic croats and bosniaks/ bosnians representing muslims Bosnians/ bosniaks both countries divided on ethnic and religious grounds
