The most genius part about this in my opinion is the "Shadow mode" testing. Absolutely brilliant.

They should have them delivered to your house by themselves.

People in Oregon would be wise to help me fundraise to buy one for my wife.
We would all be safer for it.
I tried to get the state to use the Amber Alert system to let you know when she's out there, driving, If you can call what she does, driving....
but they just don't understand the seriousness of the problem....

Just think of all of the disabled people who will no longer have to rely on their family members or other people to drive them around.

Smart cars will only be viable and or safer than human drivers when combined with smart roads. As it stands they are a rather dangerous entry technology imo.

actually, google has this self-driving tech but it relying on lidar hardware instead of cameras. that's the limitation stopping the tesla to adopt google tech.

There are still unexpected things a computer might not be able to cope with. A ball or remote controlled toy on the road for instance, people tend to slow down before a child appears because they're already being suspicious, I don't think a computer can do that yet. Also American roads are a lot different than European city roads, which are often narrow and with hidden pathways, smaller roads etc.

so to get this full autopilot capability I have to pay 8k$ extra ! I remember Musk told that all the model 3 cars will come with the self-driving hardware as a standard feature

Wtf is up with the crack at Google??

They've had autonomous vehicles for quite some time now; but they know they aren't a car manufacturer.

i've always wondered... if there's a pothole on the road, will it avoid it? if so, how? they are very harmful for the tires (and the rest of the car as well) and can cause terrible accidents... Roads in NYC are plagued with potholes, specially after winter.

People criticize Tesla autopilot problems, say they should rename it or reconsider it or not trusting the tech, etc. Then, elon doesn't give a fuck and just directly move to complete self-driving, getting rid of human error entirely.
