LYRICS

Quand la cloche t’appelle
Faut pas t’affoler
Parce qu’on fait table rase
On fait table rase
Et quant au violoncelle
C’est trop compliqué
Mais je joue bien la basse
Je joue bien la basse

Oooo
Le coquelicot
Ooo
J’en fais trop
Ooo
Le coquelicot il m’a tout dit
Alors chute

Quand le bail t’appelle
Faut pas t’affoler
Parce qu’on fait table rase
On fait table rase
Faut que tu me rappelle
Le deuxième couplet
Mais joue bien la basse
Je joue bien la basse

Oooo
Le coquelicot
Ooo
J’en fais trop
Ooo
J’trouve pas les mots
Ooo
Polyglot
Ooo
Le coquelicot il m’a tout dit
Alors chute

Hope you enjoy this song I wrote “en Français.” The lyrics are either very profound or not profound at all. When you figure it out, please let me know.

i've seen no translation for english people (so sad because the lyrics are soooo deep) so i'll try
*When the bell is calling you, don't panic, *
*because we make a clean slate, make a clean slate, *
parce qu'on fait table rase, on fait table rase,
*and when it comes to cello, it's too complicated, *
*but i can play the bass quite good, i can play the bass quite good.*
*wooohhh the poppy... I'm doing too much.*
Le coquelicot... j'en fais trop.
*The poppy, it told me everything so chut ! *
*When (this thing; your target/crush ?) is calling you, don't panic, *
*because we make a clean slate, make a clean slate.*
parce qu'on fait table rase, on fait table rase.
*I need you to remind me the second verse.*
*But i can play the bass quite good, i can play the bass quite good.*
*wooohhh the poppy... I'm doing too much.*
le coquelicot... j'en fais trop.
*Can't find the words... poppy...*
J'trouve pas les mots... coquelicot...
*The poppy, it told me everything so chut!*
*So chut, (i've got nothing to say), chut, chut, *
Alors chut, (j'ai rien à dire alors, j'ai hum hum), chut, chut,
*yup! So chut!*
ouais! Alors chut!
*The poppy... I'm doing too much.*
Le coquelicot... J'en fais trop.
*Can't find the words, poppy...*
J'trouve pas les mots, coquelicot...
*The poppy, it told me everything, so chut!*

(chut=hush)

Now you have to change the name of your band to Grapefruit.

You broke my daughter with your last song. She’s constantly singing “always on my mind, always on my mind.”
J’aime this song too!

1) Dear God, I've always loved Pomplamoose's use of chords and changes. So mesmerizing.

2) As someone who studied French for a few years in college, I know the language isn't easy. Natalie, your pronunciation is excellent. Very impressive work!!

3) I followed through on my declaration on the "Dear Elon Musk" video. It's my workout jam, and I've found it's surprisingly effective for cardio.

i’ve been a fan of pomplamoose since i was in like fifth grade (i remember hearing their cover of la vie en rose for the first time) and now i am halfway done earning a degree in jazz performance at university. to see how much this band has grown and changed over the years as i’ve also grown into a fledgling of a professional musician has been so exciting. it’s so cool to see all the collaboration they’ve done with LA musicians im also a fan of (sam wilkes comes to mind). basically all i’m saying is i love this band and the idea of this band and while i don’t listen to every cover or every original, the music jack and nataly make will always be very inspirational to me on a conceptual level and i hope they continue to be as creative and driven as i’ve observed them to be for the last decade. j’taime et votre musique est formidable.

Why is it that your French songs sound so spectacular? I don't even speak a word of French. Can't explain the appeal!

Dang! I’m definitely going to have to more of the French stuff! When I went to Canada I loved the French pop music on the radio. This blows it out of the water!
