All Emperor Darth Sidious/Palpatine Scenes (Rise Of Skywalker)

Whether you like the film or hate it, you CANNOT DENY that Ian McDiarmid is STILL TERRIFYING as Palpatine

Palpatine was both the best and the worst thing in this movie.

He was the worst because it felt cheap to resurrect and recycle a villain who exploded, but then Disney or Lucasfilm told us that he was a clone.

But at the same time, Ian McDiarmid gave a great performance in the movie with his sinister charm. I actually rooted for Palpatine to win.

Ian mcdiarmid didn't disappoint, he was happy to return to the role of emperor palpatine.

Bringing Palpatine back was a terrible idea as the Disney trilogy was full of terrible ideas but this depiction of Palpatine is fantastic.

The fact she beats him and just walks at him with two lightsabers is just such a joke. He was near unstoppable at this point.

If you think about it, Palpatine really didn't have a plan here. First he takes on Kylo as an apprentice, and tasks Kylo with killing Rey You can tell he was disappointed when he betrayed him after Leia redeemed him. Then he brings in Rey, claims it was his plan to bring her to Exegol all along (even though he honestly didn't need Kylo Ren to do that as she was looking to get to Exegol anyway), and then realized oh hey, force dyad energy I can absorb to remake my body and do everything myself. He honestly was just going along with everything with no true plan here. This same guy toppled a republic after a decades long plot and turned the chosen one to the dark side after years of grooming him. God episode 9 pisses me off so much.

Say what you will about Rise of Skywalker, Palpatine is amazing here. Probably the closest we’ve ever come to seeing the “Shadow” and “Embodiment of the Dark Side” described in a lot of external texts

Palpatine carried the entire movie. Rise of Skywalker in general is ok at best but I loved this movie solely because Palpatine returned and he steals every scene he’s in.
