Geothermal drilling is banned in Yellowstone because if they did it would likely permanently change many if not all the geysers in Yellowstone. Just take a look at what happened in both Iceland and New Zealand where that has occurred.

No joke, when we went last October, our 18 yr old daughter said she'd never go because she was afraid as well. 1 in a million shot and she didn't want to chance it, LOL! I told her no matter where you are, you can be killed or suffer a disaster, gotta live in the moment.

You guys are so fun to watch!
I was also encouraged by my husband who insisted we needed to go, but was very nervous about going last time (our 1st time) and even had trouble sleeping from anxiety over it. As a mother, my concern was over bringing our young boys to a potentially dangerous place. However, we fell in love with YSNP & would go every year if it were possible. Such a wonderful magical place!!!
