"how do you remember to do those things?"
"I don't."
"oh."

Mostly I use alarms to signify "time is passing" to combat my ADHD's time blindness, more than to remind me of specific tasks.

yeah i have alarms but i always ignore them. the way ive gotton myself to remember to brush my teeth & take my meds is by always doing teeth -> meds -> contacts. i put my contacts in every day anyways, so if i don let myself do that without the other things first, i’ll always do them.

thats why my alarm snooze is set on 15 minute intervals and i can snooze it as many times as i want. it actually makes me *more* likely to do the task, because i keep getting reminded of it and theres enough time between reminders for me to finish my other task.
it seems backwards, but being able to snooze it forever makes it work for me.

My ADHD doesn't do well with time-based tools, but my depression doesn't allow me to form habits for a habit-based tool 😭

Oh my. Thank you for this video. I've been ashamed that alarms don't work for me, and I couldn't think of an alternative. This is so helpful.

I just kinda put sticky notes everywhere— just the function of writing something down helps

I definitely snooze my alarms but I have found a way to utilize them at least some of the time. If im sitting down to do something I know is a hyper focus (mind tend to be youtube, webcomics, video games, crafting) then I set the timer on my oven and I usually add 5-10 minutes to what I the time I think I want, because frequently I want just a lil more. The timer on my oven will keep beeping until I separate myself from my hyper focus. The action of getting up is often enough to help me tune out of my hyper focus enough and remember that I was supposed be moving on from relaxing

I use both (not diagnosed, but I probably have ADHD), I remember to wash my face the same time I brush my teeth, but I have to have alarms to remind me to start those routines on time

Task initiation issues are so real, I have an alarm set to take one of my meds - which I have to take at the same time daily, and I turn it off and forget SO OFTEN

I've attached literally by entire morning routine to showering. This is a mood.

I love that this content expresses difference in addressing the same disorder. And it is not click bait, if you do this, you must have xyz. Definitely subscribing.

i use reminders, because otherwise i will genuinely forget. my phone reminds me to brush my teeth, eat 3 meals a day, wash my face, etc. sometimes i do ignore the reminders, but at that point i’m making a conscious choice to not take care of myself instead of simply forgetting the tasks, and i can deal with that lol
