I interview Indy from the Netherlands who is now living in Spain (Barcelona) on the biggest cultural shocks she has faced since moving here. She talks about the planning culture, concept of time, Dutch vs Spanish parties. Which is preferred culture: Spanish or Dutch?

Stupid and not true. I live in the Netherlands and none of what she says is correct.

Dutch people are not closed-minded and it's much easier to be active late in a warmer climate.

She exaggerates. I've been to the Netherlands often and parties get pretty wild. In any city really.

Dutch people are not close minded, instead of that the Dutch are direct maybe thats your problem.

Dutch close minded? Never heard that one before.

She sounds like an American who's parents or grandparents are from the Netherlands
"I'm from the Netherlands"

For some reason Spain is popular among the Dutch lower class.

I like structure but that’s way too much structure

She looks like a throwback to the last ice age 😅

I don’t know where this myth of Spaniards not being structured came from - there are structured and unstructured people everywhere.

Looks like Indy comes from Brabant. Maybe she grew up in a closed minded environment, but that has nothing to do with the rest of the country. She's also pretty young, and moved to Spain even younger, so I wonder if she even has enough experience in the Netherlands to even be able to make such a bold statement.
She also moved from Den Bosch to Barcelona. That's a big difference. I'm pretty sure that if she would have moved to a bigger city in the Netherlands, like Amsterdam or Rotterdam, she would have learned that the Dutch are not so closed minded as she thought. Or maybe if she had moved to a small village in Spain, she might have even thought the other way around.

On the other hand, complaining about your country is something a lot of Dutch people do (or, complaining in general. It bonds us as a people)

Calm and simple is a choice. So are the people you hang out with.

I think she lives in a farming village in Holland. Anyone who’s been to the big cities knows that this isn’t true.

Not my experience living in the Netherlands, but I completely believe some people live like that over here. I can't fault her for wanting to leave it, but different company could solve that.

Modern Dutchie here.
What a load of
Don't taken the misconceptions of one individual that has not been in the netherlands for five years as a good reference.

This is kinda generalized ngl. There's also many regions in the Netherlands that are oriented on being social, and not as punctual and cold. She should've visited the south or maybe could've found what she wanted in provincial towns and villages here. But I guess the weather in Spain we can't beat hahaha
