love that Conan thinks that Sinterklaas is derived from Santa Clause when it's actually the other way around

"I love what the Europeans have" "their take on Christmas" Dude, what we have done? Your Santa Clause is inspired by our versions, not the other way around... By the way, the Dutch "Sinterklaas" has nothing to do with Christmas. It's a totally different thing...

As a Dutch person, i've never heard of a walnut on a pillow tradition.

Santa Claus is a copy of Sinterklaas. Not the other way around. Sinterklaas is a 400 year old tradition, Santa Claus is just a Coca Cola advertisement.

The average American's knowledge of countries other than America: 0%
It also really worries me that she doesn't know anything about the Netherlands even though she's married to a Dutch guy.

I cannot believe she seriously prevented her daughter from becoming naturally bilingual, which is a huge cognitive advantage in life.

I'm a Frenchman from Paris and I've lived 12 years in Den Haag.
Dutch don't have Freaky Traditions.
They are just different than the American's one.

Well, hey, it's a pretty ignorant stance and makes me feel embarrassed, but let's not get mean. I'm American and my husband is Dutch *though I speak Dutch because it was important to me to learn it*. What I find the worst to be here is the selfish act of depriving her daughter of half her culture in learning her father's native language just because SHE would feel isolated. How stupid and selfish is that? Get your lazy butt in gear, hire a private tutor (if you insist on doing the "star" thing) and learn yourself your husband's language!! Bilingual kids can have such a HUGE advantage in this world - get over yourself and let your hubby and child share their Dutch heritage!

It's so sad that Christina has such a defeatist attitude towards learning another language. In Europe most people speak multiple languages. Dutch people speak english brilliantly, but can comfortably flick between dutch and english seamlessly.

He was trying a Dutch accent, but it seems more like a Russian accent lol

Or am I wrong?

The only thing that saddens me is how little most americans know about europe, while most europeans know allot about america.

her not wanting to let her kid learn dutch from her husband is the most ignorant and selfish thing i've heard in at least a week.
