Trudeau grilled by Poilievre over $162,000 Jamaica family trip

During question period at the House of Commons on Tuesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was grilled over the details of his week-long family vacation in Jamaica over the winter holidays, which cost taxpayers at least $162,000.

After information about his vacation was released last month, Trudeau faced renewed scrutiny following media reports that the family allegedly stayed at a luxurious estate belonging to a wealthy family friend who once made a large donation to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation two years ago.

“The leader of the opposition struggles with the concept of friendship, Mr. Speaker. My father was godfather to one of their kids, their father was godfather to one of my brothers. This is 50 years of friendship… but of course we work with the ethics commissioner to make sure everything, all the rules were followed,” Trudeau said in response to attacks by opposition leader Pierre Poilievre.

Trudeau and Poilievre also went head-to-head on a number of issues, ranging from the Conservative leader’s recent classification of CBC as government-affiliated media on social media to continued allegations of foreign election interference in the form of donations to the Trudeau Foundation.

I am still looking for a video where Trudeau actually answers a single question.

As the rest of us regular Canadians can attest, it does boil down to just friendship.
I mean, who hasn't gone on a $9, 000 per night vacation as a gift from a friend?
Totally relatable for almost everybody.

Great thing about politicians is when they don't answer the question they are answering the question.

Dude one: you’re taking lavish vacations on taxpayer dollars, explain this.

Trudeau: He voted against a dental bill.

Two things:
1. I love how quick and back-and-forth the Canadian Parliament is. Truly entertaining to watch.
2. Watching Trudeau go back to the same talking point over and over again while avoiding the accusations is infuriating

162k$ is 10 average old age pensions. It shows how much he cares about the people who helped build this country. Trudeau must go.

He basically said that his family is rich so he can do what the F-ck he wants.

162, 000 would pay for a lot of child dental care. What a joke! 🙄

How the hell can the Canadian people see what this man is and the damage he does to Canada.

Why are politicians never accountable for anything they do??

Many would gladly pay double this for him to stay in Jamaica.

The biggest red flag for a politician is when he or she avoids answering a question. It's staggering that people keep on voting despite seeing them lying to their faces and then the same people complaint about the government.

I can not believe that people actually voted for him in the first instance, are we awake yet.?

He would’ve done much better by simply saying “You’re right. My bad.” Would’ve saved us a lot of time

I took my ethics training the other day for a new position and I'd be fired on the spot if I was to engage in that kind of behavior. But sociopaths will justify everything.

Canadians "rely on the CBC" like we rely on Justin's youtube channel
