Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre scolded Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for not attending what he called “prime minister’s question period” on Wednesday, accusing Trudeau of ducking questions on the carbon pricing pause on home heating oil.

“I know I don’t have my glasses on, but that guy doesn’t look like the prime minister,” he said at one point after Employment Minister Randy Boissonnault spoke, claiming that Trudeau had previously said he would be present on Wednesdays to answer questions in the House.

Prime Minister Trudeau was on Parliament Hill on Wednesday but did not attend question period. He did answer questions about the carbon pricing pause a day earlier, on Tuesday.

“If he’s so proud of himself and what he’s done, then why won’t he stand up now and defend it,” Poilievre said.

Trudeau and his government have faced criticism in recent days from premiers and federal opposition for the carbon pricing pause, a policy that primarily benefits residents in Atlantic Canada and which premiers say is unfair.

Our PM doesn't show up for work. That's a simple enough reason to vote him out.

So when did calling out the government become denigrating Canada? I’m lost.

Heat pumps don't work well in Canada, do your research and talk to someone who has one, they tell not to get rid of your current heating system because you will need it. The cost of a heat pump outweighs the benefits, the government grants being given out are paid for by the taxpayers and a large percentage of them do not have one for the reasons stated.

The Carbon Taxes have been proven to be useless, and its only harming the every day person whos trying to feed their family. Axe the tax!

Who can afford $25K-$40K to switch to a heat pump system even with the rebate? We need relief NOW!

Try getting homeowners insurance with a heat pump as a primary heat source. Good luck with that. Especially on the prairies and other places where it dips below -20.

Boy, I wish I could have a job, screw it all up, be corrupt as possible, and decide to not show up for accountability and still get huge money for it all

My "The Canadian government LITERALLY does NOTHING" clip is a sobering reminder of what our taxes are paying for.

The Heat pump is a waste of time to save money, now cost me roughly 30 percent more on average a month for Electricity in winter on top of my all ready expensive heating bill, not to mention original 9G - rebate to install.

I'm 80 years old, and my electric bill has doubled, as has every other thing I need to live, especially groceries. Why are only oil users exempt from this new tax? Why isn't he taking care of me at the end of my life? After working and paying taxes my entire life, I now live at the lowest standard of living in my entire life. He's even taking tax off my Old Age Pension. Why am I even still paying taxes? Give me back my money he's using to take first-class private jet trips around the world with his friends, family, sycophants, private hairdresser, private photographer, and a supply of more high-end liquor and food than I've ever seen in my entire life. I read that he had a suite in a hotel for about $5, 000 for one week, which of course didn't include food, liquor, and a chauffeur, plus the cost of everyone else he took with him, which is the total Old Age Pension for a year. I also heard that, during that same trip, he sang karaoke in the hotel lobby the night before the Queen's funeral. Who is this? Who does that? Why is he being allowed to use Canadians' tax money as a piggy bank to play King? Actually, the King doesn't even spend that much money on a trip. Where did he get the tens of millions of dollars in his bank account since he's been PM, when he earns a civil servant's salary?

We are struggling in Ontario too. Why can't we get a break?

The fact that Trudeau is pushing for heat pumps especially in the east is a joke. Not only are heat pumps are the most expensive form of heating, they are not efficient below 4°C and aren't even recommended for use beyond -10°C .... remind me what the average temps are on the east coast in the winter. Plus, when the power goes out.... no heat. Great plan 👍 Shall we talk about the power grid that can't support it either? It can barely handle the EVs that are in current use, and to think he wants everyone using EVs and heat pumps. Its laughable.

I've never voted for CPC in my life but that will change in the next election. Congrats Trudeau you have left me no choice but to vote CPC in the next election.

I have looked at heat pumps, they are not what many proponents are claiming. All things considered they are NOT worth the headache or expense.
