Avoid the Public Adjuster Scam!

And one of my last videos I said that everyone should have a public adjuster in their back pocket if they need one but this is one thing that I think that every roofing contractor should know before hiring one. Do you need to do your due diligence you need to make sure that the guy or girl that you were working with is not going to do something shady. You deserve the money that you’ve earned.

Everything is documented in a claim. I've been a restoration contractor for years and to have used public adjusters with no issues. There's literally insurance paperwork to match how much was paid. If you're not bright enough to figure out how to read insurance paperwork you probably shouldn't be in the trade. I'm not quite sure but I can follow that someone could just pocket a check and you would never know.

I believe you are confused with other companies....

1) The Insurance Company may not omit the Insured's name(s) on a claim payment unless given permission by the Insured(s).

2) Board-up companies often have the Insured, at the time of their distress shortly after they suffered a claim, sign a form that allows the Insurance Company to pay them, and *only* them, directly.

3) If anyone had a Public Adjuster sign an Insured's name and kept the money-- report them to The Department of Insurance. The Insurance Company and the Public Adjuster will both have to hand over their files.

My public adjuster is withholding my check demanding I need to pay him first before he endorses it. Before they said otherwise that they’ll Endorse it and once I get paid to make sure I pay them.

My public adjusters is scamming us so he’s holding money. He sued us eventually so we can give him the money he wants which is illegal. He already had a judgment against him by the department with Insurance but he doesn’t back up. What can I do? I still have a lawsuit?
