Last time I was this early, that fish was still in the ocean.

Excellent tip. But I find snapper always tasted better cooked on the bone. Especially grilled or roasted.

Filleting fish is tedious work but so worth it 😊

Using tweezers works well for pulling out the bones but if you got any shells fro shellfish like mussels, it works wonderfully and easier than tweezers

I enjoy your vids and am always so impressed. I could no more filet a fish than I could fly to the moon on my own power; I would instantly lose a digit.

Place your knife on the bone and grip the knife firmly, then with your free hand, pop the back of the blade close to the handle with an open palm downward. That's a much more controlled cut than an axe chop... for folks uneasy with knives and fingers sharing close proximity. My kids learned these techniques around 9.

I want to also remind you guys that you should take your time when you fillet your fish. Don't try to be quick just because you saw the chefs do it. When you are more comfortable you'll be fast enough!

Greetings from South Central Texas!

I am lucky enough to live just a couple of hours away from the Texas Coastsl Bend, where we can fish for red snapper or buy it fresh off a boat.

Red snapper is good eating, and that is a nice specimen!
