I think the pharmaceutical industry is shaping the standards and practices which mental health professionals use to assess whether a person has a genuine illness, thereby increasing their profits. After all, if they expand the definition of mental illness, they can get more people medicated than who genuinely need to be medicated, which in turn means the sale of more drugs. This can be seen in the sharp increase in diagnosis of people with depression and kids with ADHD.

So what happens when you to to several different psychiatrists and each one gives a different diagnosis and a different high dose of medication and the only thing consistent is that they are well paid?
Can't help but think their methods were a bit less than scientific.
