Confidence isn’t “I know they’ll like me”, it’s “I’m okay if they don’t”.

Totally relatable. My social rizz depends on how good i feel with my look that day. If i feel uncomfy with my look i literally just wanna leave 😭

Being an introvert i always tried to follow all these guides on how to be more extrovert, get what you want, etc. I think the hard work is accepting yourself and not trying to change to be a person you are not. Once you embrace yourself you will feel so much relieved. This tips might be great in certain situations you need to "sell" your work but really, if you don't feel like talking in a party just be you 💛💛

A reminder that “it doesn’t matter” doesn’t mean you have no reason to be upset/nervous/anxious. It just means that you are safe even when you don’t feel safe emotionally

This is so good!! People don't realize that social anxiety is directly related to not practicing enough! I use to have "social anxiety" but after I started pushing myself to be more focused on getting out there, not focusing on myself and just trying to be about making others feel seen and accepted, my social anxiety went away... for the most part... some days I feel like being a recluse but I never let myself fall back into that.

When I start to become un-confident I just say to myself "You know what, it doesn't matter if they like you, if they don't like you who cares you have friends and many things to look forward to throughout the day" I also remind myself that if I make any mistakes or embarrass myself it makes me better.

something that has helped me when I’m feeling embarrassed is to reassure myself that “it’s not embarrassing” and to change the outlook of it to not feel that way because it’s simply not embarrassing to me.

Honestly I recommend getting a job as a server somewhere. It literally forces you to interact w ppl plus you get tips lol. That’s the main thing that’s helped me become more comfortable around ppl

Communication is a super power and can get you the world! Like you mentioned it’s amazing to know when to tone it up or down, knowing how you should act in a certain environment and reading a person/ room all without having to abandon your true self and personality!! I’ve only recently learned how to do this and it’s amazing i love going out wherever and getting to know so many people

i felt like this on my early 20's, before knowing myself. now i know me and i know why i'm like this and i can deal with myself, life and people a lot better because i don't force myself on anything / with something anymore, neither with someone. i'm introvert and i always got manipulated about what people said to me like "you're shy" "you're insecure" but i always felt like "no, i don't" and then someone just come to me and said "you're not shy, you're just don't like being with that person, you don't think they're interesting. don't force yourself on doing something you don't like. you're still be a good person even if you realize that people suck for you and don't talk to them" and that started to change me. because i heard so much that i was shy that i putted on my head that i was without realizing i actually just don't like it. and then i discover i was introvert and not depressed. i just feel exhausted socializing and prefer being at home than going outside.

I’m thankful you are here sharing your experience. I have a sister similar to you, it seems she just looks down on me for how I act instead of helping, she’s separated herself from me I guess and it’s hard because I hold a lot of resentment towards her. I immediately got angry when I saw you and started judging you harshly, you are a beautiful person . I don’t know how to not feel angry towards you, my trauma seems so much stronger than me and reminds me constantly of it. I yearn to be able to not feel like a complete failure for simply existing to be care free again. It’s like planktons bucket helmets … I just can’t get it off me

What you said on the importance of social skills is so true. Even though many people aren't naturally outgoing and extroverted, this world kind of requires you to be and you're better off improving the skill in order to be successful. As someone who's very likely on the spectrum, it can be so so hard to constantly mask and try to act expressive, excited and engaged. Still, it's an important measure of surviving. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and methods!

Having social anxiety is a feeling that hurts you. Every time my friends invite me to go somewhere where there are a lot of people, I avoid going because I don't like that feeling. But I want to change bcs i know that so many doors close and good opportunities because of this situation ❤thx for the help
