Russia seems to have taken full control of Bakhmut.

For more than nine months, the relentless struggle for control over the city has persisted, plunging into a merciless war of attrition characterized by trench warfare. Since the onset of the invasion, no other urban center has endured such an extended siege, exacting a heavy toll on both Ukraine and Russia, with substantial losses incurred by both sides.

Putin praised the PMS Wagner and Russian troops for claiming the city, while the founder of Wagner played down the role of the regular Russian army and in a voice message on Telegram, said: "practically no one from the army helped us".

While certain news agencies initially claimed that during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Zelenskyy seemed to acknowledge the loss of Bakhmut, a spokesperson clarified that the Ukrainian leader was, in fact, refuting the city's capture.

While Zelenskyy earlier issued statements like, “ No one will hand over Bakhmut. Bakhmut is a fortress. Not only will we not move away from Bakhmut, but we will go to liberate the Donbass”, there seems to be more to the story.

In this video, Defense Updates analyzes why Bakhmut is likely acting as a trap for Russia?

Prigozhin stated a few hours ago that Ukraine is making progress encircling Bakhmut.

Which puts Prigozhin in agreement with Ukrainian officials.

Prigozhin is playing it smart. He can claim he "captured" Bakhmut, pull out and then let Shoigu and Gerasimov take the blame for losing Bakhmut

Not buying this. They fought too hard for this to be an act.

A couple weeks ago, Prigozhin let slip Wagner had suffered a 170% attrition rate. A meaningless figure unless the number of troops initially sent to assault Bakhmut was known. A couple days ago, he provided that figure, 35, 000, while admitting to 20, 000 KIA. The true losses, including WIA, were likely between 60, 000 and well north of 100, 000.

Another Bakhmut video again? It's over, guys. Ukie troops are now. consolidating the defense of Chasov Yar, further west of Bakmut.

By the way, Ukranian General Syrsky, the general in charge of Bakhmut's defense, was GRILLED and REMOVED by Zelensky.

Everyone around the world EXCEPT people in the U S knows its the other way around. Stubborn Zelinski kept sending his best Battalions to the meat grinder called Bakhmut where they lost 7 to Russia . Prigozhin brilliantly laid a trap leaving one rode open. 50, 000 Ukrainians dead!!

This war reminds me of watching wrestling on TV in the 1960s. It is just a show.

The Bakhmut battle is a dead trap for the Wagner group and Putin Army. Ukraine's forces are encircling and tightening up around Bakhmut. They are using artillery to hunt down their enemy and blast out the fox holes.
Moreover, Ukraine's forces against Putin's invasion is a long-term war strategy to defeat enemies and rewrite the history. Not just one battle.

How much in debt is the Ukraine to western arms manufacturers?

Even if this is true, Russia still has manpower to replace. Ukraine never had that liberty, they spent all their manpower and the ammunition they got in this battle. Ukraine's morale is also gonna be hit after such an important loss.
