Crowded is an understatement, I moved away in 2010 and whenever I visit now it reminds me of trying to drive around in Los Angeles

The "only" reason not to move, not only to Phoenix but to Arizona is the "soon-to-be lack of water"! I cannot understand why there is a steady increase in construction going on when residents are constantly reminded about the lack of water. It is one thing to build homes, etc..., but to build at such a high rate is unconscionable!

phoenix has 5 water sources- 2 surface rivers, colorado river water, groundwater, and recycled wastewater. as for electric power, it has palo verde nuclear plant, the nation's biggest. a problem with phoenix is the repeated boom bust economic and housing prices cycles which people soon forget but really shouldn't. a positive thing is that taxes are low and the cost of living is still low compared to the coasts. another very positive thing is the absence of devastating hurricanes, storms, and sea level rise. finally, it has beautiful winters.🙂

Food? Maybe Phoenix restaurants suck but not up here in Scottsdale. There are so many types of different cuisines here and very good quality.

I was born and raised in southern Arizona. Currently living in Phoenix (have for the last 5 years). Will be leaving in December as the cost of living and crime has exploded here. Everywhere you go it's got a street corner with homeless or drug addicts on it. The cost of living especially the cost of a house has gone to the moon here. In the last 2 years I've had my car stolen, mail stolen, place broken into, and had tools stolen off a job site in broad daylight. Traffic is getting worse with the influx of drivers from California 😒 and hit n runs are ridiculous here. Add to that the impending water crisis and Arizona is not worth it anymore.

People say oh it is just a dry heat here, it is not! The monsoon season (can be a coupe of months) is humid and hot but perhaps not record heat when it is raining. Never the less it's uncomfortable when sun comes out.

Live in Tucson, the desert 🏜️ is jaw droppingly beautiful. The gridded city full of strip malls not so much. They could have made Tucson one of the most beautiful cities in the world. instead it's new growth is just thousands of horrific track homes.

Guess they just want everyone in the rat race.

Guessing and hello from Tucson,

1. Traffic
2. Air pollution
3. Sky high rents
4. Sky high AC costs
5. Housing prices leading to a substantial homeless population
6. Aggressive drivers
7. Crime
8. Road construction (I-17 at the south end)
9. Extreme heat
10. You need a car because the transit system is less than adequate
