Unveiling the Soot Black finish for our Wood Burning Hot Tub, inspired by the ancient art of yakisugi.

Get a closer look at our latest project, inspired by the work of Anthony Esteves, a Maine-based sculptor, designer, and friend of GOODLAND, who often uses both traditional methods of yakisugi and soot paint finishes in his work.

Yakisugi (“burned Japanese cedar”) is a burned wood siding produced by the traditional Japanese method of preserving wood. Our new finish brings together the quintessential soot black look of Yakisugi with the benefits of heat treatment, resulting in a finish that is both aesthetically beautiful and truly durable.
