Has a super awesome sensor that will have improved autofocus (soon) and still has the gyro motion stabilization from the Pockets and 6K PYXIS!

the Pyxis 6k and 12k are great. I'm excited to pick up the 12K, And since I have L Mount lenses, I can't wait for the AF to be added to both of the Pyxis. Pyxis for my commercial and corporate interviews and S5IIXs for events! I'm good on gear for a WHILE!!

Wait a second. I just watched a demo of the autofocus. In the firmware you switch from contrast detection to a PDAF mode. Which means the 6k sensor has Phase Detect capabilities in the wafer. Does the RGBW sensor have phase detect in the design? To date I’ve not heard that it does.

This is going to be an incredible camera no question about it. HOWEVER anybody who wants to buy this needs to know one thing that's going to be a huge catalyst for this camera and that is POWER.

Powering a high speed (relatively) 12K full frame sensor isn't going to be a joke. So if you are just starting out or don't have the budget/clientele to utilize this version of the PYXIS then be cautious. I love BMD and have been using their products for almost a decade but just know what comes with some this great tech we get the opportunity to get out hands on.

Note on the rolling shutter, the readout speeds are not as fast as the Ursa cine 12k, I heard some BMD people on the show floor say it does but I don’t think that’s correct. it’s around half as fast as the Ursa cine 12K. So if you’re seeing 5ms on the Ursa cine 12K you can expect around 10ms on the Pyxis 12K when using the same resolution and frame rates. Due to a limitation on the internals on the Pyxis 12K. That info was from another interview with someone from BMD.
