I played Karl Franz recently. Thank god for incremental autosaves.

First, One Eye declared war on me. Then Durthu. Then after dealing with that I had to fight Sylvania and that was a goddamn nightmare cause they had 3 provinces while I had 2.

Then after all that, Be'lakor declared war on me at the same time as Wurrzag and Skrag so I was fighting on three fronts at the same time.

Oh and the good doctor was still futzing around my lands, and I wasn't challangeing him because I didn't have the manpower.

Make sure you build your second army on turn 1 so he can be sent to help against Festus ASAP. Use a smaller army with Franz to take out the secessionists. When they’re done, you send Karl to deal with the rest of the Festus festivities and send your other lord back to Reikland in case 1-Eye or Grom feel special
