WHY Does The Bible Say 'THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING'? Is Soul Sleep Biblical?

The Jehovah's Witness and Seventh Day Adventist Churches teach that no-one goes to heaven or hades when they die. They teach that when a person dies their simply cease to exist and they sleep in the dust until the day of judgement. The quote bible verses that say "the dead know nothing" and "the dead don't praise God" and they argue that everyone sleeps in the dust until they are awakened on judgement day. Is this biblical? In this video I go through the main passages people use to try and prove the doctrine of soul sleep and I explain them correctly in their context. Soul sleep is an unbiblical doctrine taught mostly is cults like the Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists.

Solomon wrote Ecclesiastes when he was blessed by God with wisdom. He didn't write while "in apostasy", that happened later 1Kings11:4 "For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father."
Solomon was speaking God's truth when he wrote his books: Ecc12:10 "The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth."

Those were all excellent examples in the video supporting that the soul continues to exist in a conscious state after physical death. Another is also evident in Luke 23:43 This is where Jesus tells the repentant thief on the cross, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise." This suggests immediate conscious existence after death.

It’s not the only place in in the Bible that teaches us about the dead we return to the dust. Solomon was telling the truth, twisting the word of God does not change the truth. If when we all die then who will God resurrect, read the accounts of the resurrection for God says I will open the memorial tombs and they will come out, and from the
Depths of the sea I will bring them out this indicates people that have already died. I suppose God could send us to heaven kill us again put us back in the grave and resurrect us, but that doesn’t make sense. Does it, if we die and go to hell or heaven then who who will God resurrect.

Solomon, although with his struggles was still wise enough for God Himself to allow his words to remain recorded in the scriptures for our learning. The dead know nothing, the body goes to the grave and the spirit goes back to God (who gave it) only to be reunited again on the last day to be rewarded with eternal life and others for shame and everlasting contempt.

The Bible makes perfect sense when it talks about those that “sleep in the dust of the earth.”

No one is in hell because no one has been judged. Even King David has not yet ascended into heaven! (Acts 2:34)

The Scriptures are so beautiful and clear yet others make them so complicated to the point that I don’t know who’s interpretation or comment to trust, yet I’ve learnt that the Bible itself can interpret itself beautifully and clearly, we on the other hand take it to another direction.

I don't feel that any of those versus fully justify the topic that you are sharing. I don't claim to understand what the state of the dead is, but i cannot understand how we can go straight to heaven or hell when Jesus hasn't returned and the judgement hasn't taken place. Why would the dead in Christ rise at Jesus return if they are already in heaven? Why would the wicked later be raised just to go back to hell. This does not make sense. Perhaps we should not make definite statements about things we don't yet fully understand. It's not important, and we fool ourselves thinking that all our dead friends and relatives are in heaven just because they were 'good'.
Who is actually working out their salvation with fear and trembling today?

Death is the opposite of life, not a transfer to another life, either in heaven or hell. For Man to have an immortal soul, requires every single scripture about life, death, heaven and hell, to be wrong. It requires not only God to be wrong, but also Jesus Christ, the Apostles and all 40 or so Bible writers to be wrong. The Bible is very consistent in describing death as a dreamless sleep, from which we will awake when Jesus returns to earth and resurrects His followers; the rest of the dead will be resurrected, judged and destroyed later on, after 1, 000 years. Until the return of Jesus, the dead are dead - no consciousness, no thoughts, nothing. The dead will rise to their reward at the end of days. Until then, they are dead.
