Very instructive; I like that you’re not obsessing over detail, but going for the big structures first.
& mentioning the paper; that’s often left out but it’s as important as the drawing tools: it’s also a tool.

Thank you so much for this. I never worked with Charcoal before because I didn't know enough about it. But now I do I'm rearing to go and try it. And thanks very much for that tip about the white pastel pencil and fixative. That white pencil is in every set and I thought it was a MUST. Watching that demo with the white pencil and the fixative showed otherwise. Thank you. It pays to watch your videos. I've learned loads from this and I'm very grateful. Susan 😅

Very informative video ❤ I love your style and admire your attention to detail. I also paint wildlife but a lot looser, so I thoroughly enjoy watching you in an attempt to get a little better and patient with the details.

I suppose if one did prefer to use the white, it's better to quickly frame behind glass which, of course, adds to the cost.
Great tutorial on charcoal, thank you Sir.

Tortillions and blending stumps are 2 different tools. Stumps, which is what you were using, is made from compressed paper and pointed on both ends. Tortillions are paper that is wound and is pointed on one end and are hollow.
