Make a case to your employer as if they are a judge. 2.) Your best friend when talking about raises is math.The best way to show your value is through data. I hit x sales, and exceeded the expected sales by y. Don't try to get a raise with emotions. Employers rarely give raises to people for their personality and length of employment. 2.) Efficiency and Value. If you can't show your mathematical value, show your efficieny and value. There is always a way to measure value. Show evidence of what you've done.3.) Timing in the company. Don't ask for a raise in a startup buisness. You need to be considerate of the timing. You have an idea of where the company is at financially. Ask for raises during upswings. 4.) Always be respectful to your employer. 5.) If that doesn't work.... BECOME AN ENTRAPANEUR!

I am glad to hear that your company actually has specific guidelines for raises and promotions and are open to share it with your employees. That attribute is very rare, and I hope one day other companies follow that example.

I would become an entrepreneur, but the skills I have don't translate well into "contract work" in today's economy. A few decades ago, sure. My skills are still in high demand... but I can only be hired by the company as employee, not as a service provider. 😊

Makes perfect sense, but it might not make sense for all people.
1. How do you go about explaining this to people who refuse to understand that the reason behind a raise is an increase in ROI they've brought, and not the time they've been with the company ?

2. Of course, as a good leader, you must be able to explain this effectively, but sometimes, other people might refuse to take it, especially if coleagues of theirs got an increase(based on increased ROI), but they didn't, even though they've been with the company for a longer time. So, you see, this is quite sensible.
If they don't understand, maybe it's time to just move on ?

3. Also, how do you let people understand that, as a start-up, for the first 2, 3, 4 years, there won't be any substantial increase, especially when they compare their salary with what other well established companies can offer ?

4. And in many cases, if one shares this video with his employees, some employee would find it offensive because, in simple terms, it sounds like "if you don't agree with the wage, go make your own business", so it might be hard for them to chew it.

funny intro haha. use data to back your request in either sales or efficiency, be aware of when you as for a raise, be respectful, if none of the above work then go do it yourself

I make XX$ now... boss retired, I'm taking on his responsibilities. In my head, I expect no less than a 50% raise, preferably 75% raise... am I wrong??

I remember the first time i asked for a raise at my first official job when i was 16-17. I got it. And got a bigger one a couple months later because i taked about my strengths and asked about how to improve and was able to show how i improved on the weaknesses and was rewarded ahead of schedule.

Dang it Paul! Pay attention! Lol but have data to back up your worth to the company. Show how you've improved the processes of the business, be respectful and make sure to ask at the right time. And you can instead focus on building a business instead.

lot of explaining to get a raise. might be better to just get an offer from another place and move on. i shouldn't have to justify a raise after a few years. because even after a year its so easy to get a 20-50% raise by moving to another company. this 4% raise imo is more or less useless.

Awful waste of time with the cheesy skits. 1.) Not realistic 2.) Get to the point or people will subscribe to content creators who do.
