Good concept and all but it first starts with who your boss is and what is valued more to that person and not the company. Some supervisors are arrogant and should’ve never been placed in such a position

Not gonna lie. Feel a bit proud of myself for taking this approach before knowing this clip existed.

I felt like I was being fairly compensated for my work but wanted to earn more without shifting to another workplace. So I sent a message to my boss asking what ways I could be more valuable to the company as they have a better vantage point on the higher level goals than I do.

Was a very contructive conversation, shined a light on new things for me to learn, and recently got a pay bump I'm very happy with. :)

Sorry for the bragging, but am also trying to reinforce this video, this is great advice.

This is actually really good advice. Ask them what you need to do and put it on them. Then get it in writing

That’s when they “your boss” laugh and he/she tells you they are struggling 😂 the old nickel and dime trick! I’ve had a boss go to the length of telling a car dealership he needed a used car because he needed his employees to think he was in a spot of concern... good thing I live in a small town 😂

Gave it a shot after watching this at lunch time. I work in manufacturing and after I came up with some goals and things to work on and presented them to my boss I got a reply. “We will not be giving production any raises this year” I did not receive a raise in 2020. I did not receive a raise in 2019. It has been a long time. At what point do you move forward and take the risk....
