This makes me realize that just because you get through one hard thing doesn't mean it'll get easier the next.

This is pretty calm and chill, I remember showing up at SOI we were getting screamed at the moment we got off the bus, I was both shocked and pissed off as I thought all that bullshit was going to be over with once we were done with Boot Camp lol. It was pretty much like showing up to boot camp all over again and for the most part we got treated like Recruits for the rest of our training. I remember a Gunny telling us "ain't shit different here then the Depot " lol.

All i remember about good ol lima co right there is the “salty” pfc yelling at me to get off the bus like he was some sort of DI.

I really enjoyed SOI in the mid 2000s. All of instructors had just finished multiple combat deployments and it was 100% about training to keep us alive. Just no BS or stupid games. It was so refreshing after boot camp. Looking back I can't believe how much fun I had. Thought it was all downhill from there until I picked up in the fleet and it was back to constant hazing and fuckfuck games that always happen with the boot drop.

A friend of mine got his first star as an Admiral and knew he was now in the elite club. Then, he went to his first Admiral’s meeting. He learned quickly that since he was the junior Admiral, he would be the one serving coffee to all of the other Admirals. 💩 always rolls downhill.

Even when the boots enter the FMF, I ALWAYS had a company runner help out with their luggage to keep them presentable in their Alphas to meet the Company Commander. I always keep a supply dolly in the office corner for that very reason. Once they PCS into the FMF, they are no longer students. They are full fledged Marines and are extended every courtesy I can extend.

The day before we graduated from MCT in June 1998, our platoon Sergeant, SGT. Gomez, tried to sell the entire platoon some bootleg Oakley sunglasses for like $20 a pop. We all bought a pair, and we were looking like a bunch of boot douchbags when we got to our MOS schools wearing our Oakleys...lol.

Just when you thought the yelling was over you enter more yelling and alot more physical demand than bootcamp lol

Some things never change. This is why MCT training is called "the 4th phase of bootcamp" by many, because even though you've graduated and earned the title, people still talk to you like you were a recruit....minus the constant screaming.

As a Veteran. You couldn't pay me enough to be in any branch of the military these days.

I liked MCT. We got the m240g in our fighting hole, got flashbanged, destroyed a simulated VBEID. Our trainers were all just back from Phantom Fury II. I remember them telling us we were all gonna go over there and we were all gonna get blown the fuск up.

In my day, it was San Onofre. Training with FR. Running 10-miles before morning chow. Then studying. Then another run. Then chow, then more studying and another run. I was bushed by evening. I was 20-years old. I learned one thing, though. You could push your body to it's fullest limits, and reach inside yourself, and keep going.

I hated the fact that we wore our service alphas only to rip them off when we got there

I went through ITR (Infantry Training Regiment) at Pendleton in 1965. Quonset huts and two tiered racks. These kids are in better shape (and likely smarter) than we were. The Corps is in good hands. Semper Fi.
