Bizarre Geography Facts From Around the World

We learn about geography in school. We have a basic understanding, or at least we should, of where places are, how they got there, and why they are that way. We piece together an image of the world in our heads based on maps and globes, things we hear in the news, and facts and figures we hear in pop culture. So when we actually look at and learn about where things are, or their relative size, or even how many people live there, the reality can be vastly different than the internal picture we had.

Here's a random but interesting subject that I wouldn't mind seeing on this channel:
The many wild animals that have been introduced to North, Latin, and South America. From the invasive to the neutral to the beneficial. From animals as big as a hippo, wild water buffalo, or hog to as small as a worm, mussel, and mouse

I love Mr. Weird History's enthusiasm discussing the antipodes--he was even more delightfully zinger-y and/or wow-zer-y than usual during that segment of today's video. :)

I think you enjoyed saying as much as I enjoyed listening to "an island on a lake on an island on a lake on an island" 😂😂

For the last segment, my favorite related fact is that there is a chunk of Canada (part of the Ontario peninsula) that is south of the US. I live near Detroit, and when in downtown, we can look to Windsor across the river while facing south.

Some say this is what Journey meant when they sang "born and raised in South Detroit" - they meant Windsor.

Listening to the Nunavut segment I already have a headache now I have a new headache within the headache I have now compounding the 1 I'm trying 2 get rid of

OK, here's one: Not only is Windsor, Ontario the southernmost point of mainland Canada but it's the only part of the entire US/Canadian border where one must travel due NORTH to reach the United States- specifically Detroit, Michigan!

You were referring to the Prime Meridian when you really meant the International Date Line (Prime Meridian = 0 degrees longitude; International Date Line = 180 degrees longitude).

I love the megadeth reference, but if it’s Antarctica, it should be Gwar because they’re from Antarctica

Minneapolis is north of Toronto, Canada, but south of Paris, France.

I believe there's an area in Antarctica where it hasn't rained for over a million years.

@7:40 Sarah Palin never said She can see Russia from her House. Tina Fey said that on SNL. Mandella effect but poor research on Your part.

Russia only CLAIMS more land. Vast portions of Siberia are mostly empty but the people that do live there barely pay attention to what goes on in Moscow and don't consider themselves part of Russia.

Man at the end of a good day I can't wait to enjoy 4:20 and a beer and watch this with the dog. A stoner can parley the Anidode into any convo. If they loose this narrator and he like decides to not be a sell out and only do "off broadway" life will not be worth living. No, I'm not catastrophizing again. Sorry for the misspelling my IPA a hazy just kicked in.

@2:04 "Every spot on the Earth has an antipode" but everybody knows no matter where you're digging from, you always come out the other side in China, upside-down.

Since you mentioned Russia's 11 time zones, I am compelled to mention China has only 1.

Russia also spans two continents, Europe and Asia. Hence the name Eurasia.

Geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics has made us partners, and necessity has made us allies. Those whom God has so joined together, let no man put asunder.
