I thought it was sweet when she hugged the researcher, she must have felt understood for the first time.

I feel so sorry for both the mum and the kid. The little girl thinks she's starving and NEEDS food constantly and the mum is terrified for her child's health and that must have put such a strain on their relationship before they knew what was wrong.

Wow the health care worker did an excellent job communicating with the girl and her mom.

I worked with a kindergartner (now 2nd grader) who is very obese. And her mom is a freaking nurse. She sends her daughter to daycare in the morning with stacks of pancakes covered in butter and syrup, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, a side of yogurt, and a protein shake. These are big portions that I couldn't even finish. Oh and she allows her daughter to buy cereal at our day care to go with that breakfast as well. This is every morning when she drops her off. If dad drops her off, he gets her McDonald's. Mom also talks about making her deep fried oreos for dessert. The parents are average weight. It really makes me angry because they are destroying their daughters life. This poor girl refuses to play with the other kids outside because she can't run and keep up with them without getting winded. Poor kid.

That lady doctor was LOVELY. What a clever woman to explain it to the little girl like that. You could see how happy the child was when she knew it wasn't her fault. How amazing.

I just love how the doctor involved the little girl when talking about the gene abnormality. She explained it in such a good way, and you could see how relieved the girl was, to find out it wasn't her own fault. Well done, doctor! ❤

Awww can’t imagine what they must be going through.
I have a 5 year old girl and I’d feel so helpless in this situation.
On a positive note it’s amazing that they now know what’s causing it and can help and make changes for her future

I moved to UK 18 years ago, and remember searching for primary school for my child. They claimed all healthy meals. When I checked it was Friday fish and chips or pizza for option. Canned bins, always pudding options. Never fresh veggies or fruits. ( fruit salad from can option). Same when I was in college I always looked form fresh salad options and they simply didn’t make it as like the dinner lady said “nobody crave for them so we don’t sell them. Instead lot of fried bacon and sausages, pastries . I onced witnessed young mum buying Mars bar for her 14-15 month child and a till lady was cheering her for that, I was totally shocked. The bottom line is, and I don’t want sound judgemental this country as a whole need food and nutrients education. Chips, crisps, puddings is daily thing. At work when someone brings cakes or sweet, people generally behave like they never eat it before. They always happy and willing to have it when offered. The whole culture just isn’t about healthy eating ( of course you always find exemptions). People are much aware of physical exercise which is good, but then lots of them after running or gym sessions, going back homes for junk or poor nutrition meals

Its quite telling for that little girl to instantly hug the lady who tells her that actually there's a reason why your in this awful mess and she kind of understood it and knew straight away in her own little 5 year old way😑

I'm a bottomless pit too, the trick is to only keep healthy options around the house. It's hard to get fat on carrots, cubumbers and fruit.

I was born with bbs syndrome im missing the nevers in my brain so im starving all time but iv learnt how mange it lost 7 stone im here if have any quetions

Between ages four and seventeen, I was heavily overweight. Aged eleven, mild breach of a medically prescribed diet made me faint. At seventeen, I lost five stone by counting calories. However, some nights, having run out of calories, I forced myself to go hungry - *I can't advise how safe this was*. Exercise alone, while healthy in moderation, doesn't burn enough calories for weight loss. Weight loss requires significant food reduction - which, if you're not careful, can be dangerous.

Even slight calorific excess may gain weight. Some brains, it's thought (such as on the autistic spectrum) don't process pleasurable sensation as closely, so feel a need to eat more.

Rob Grant's "Fat" (2006) says past age sixty five, being overweight by even forty pounds improves life expectancy; that cholesterol can't actually enter the bloodstream, and epidemiology standards have lowered to a point where just about anything can be "proven" to cause just about anything else.

Must be incredibly hard for Lily but even more so for the Mum.. It’s not the mother’s fault. Or Lily’s.. Wishing them both the best x

Does the researcher has the same gene anomaly? We have to stop feeding the kids processed carbs and sugar.
