Hi can you explain how to write something like 2, 3, 4(1/2), 6(3/4) in summation notation? The answer of the right side is 2(3/2)^k-1. Above the sigma is n and below the sigma is k=1

what if the sequence is not an arithmetic progression like 2 + 6+12+20.... you cannot use a+(n-1)d but the formula for the given series is x(x+1) so what you are saying is not applicable at all the series
