Agree 100%. I've never been assertive and tried to justify it as me having super human tolerance. I fooled myself into believing it was a positive. But in reality there was bitterness building up due to how much sh*t I was taking. People acted as if I had no boundaries, because I didn't have the confidence to put any up.

I urge anyone else in this position to "speak their truth", be brave, and don't allow yourself to be constantly disrespected. It will keep eating away at you if you don't address it and possibly turn you vengeful.

A good way to think about assertiveness is to confront without anger or apprehensiveness. Be comfortable with confrontation, know what you deserve, and be vocal about your boundaries.
