Junior doctors in the U.K. began a four-day walkout Tuesday. They're demanding a 35% pay raise, but the British government has said the request is unreasonable. CBS News foreign correspondent Ramy Inocencio joined Omar Villafranca on "CBS News Mornings" to discuss.

A junior doctor is any doctor that is not a consultant (UK term for an attending)

They need to move to a country where they are appreciated and paid proper professional salaries. Even consultants in the UK are vastly underpaid.

In US terms your senior residents would also be "junior doctors" and I'm certain you wouldn't call them someone who needs to always be supervised!!

Makes no difference, all doctors may as well be on strike anyway . Made a perfect ppe for them the moment they realised they could manipulate the system .

Able to pay for wars but not for doctors. Wrong priorities, methinks.

On top of that they need to pay different medical associations.

If they can afford to lose 4 days pay they are obviously paid to much

It's just England. Wales and NI are NOT striking as pay is devolved.

I do not support doctors strike but believe they did try to negotiate with the government bf they decided to go on strike. We shld listen to their grievances & work out a amicable solutions.( I dont think these doctors are unreasonable & inhuman) Not long ago the politician had their salary/ allowance increases, isnt it .(Has the country better off with their increase in wages &. do they deserve it)

These strikes are becoming ridiculous. These people are now willing to put lives at risk. The whole country is struggling. Its not making things any better.

Imagine paying to get in to a career that you know isn’t going to pay you what you want. These are supposedly meant to be the smartest people in the country.
Ask yourself, would you actively pursue a career, pay thousands and thousands of £ to achieve it. Then when you achieve your goal, complain you don’t earn enough 🤔. Come on man. I’m sick of all this noise. No one forced you to become a Dr. No one forced you to take all those exams. No one forced you to do all that training. And no one is forcing you to keep doing it. You chose this career knowing what the earning potential was. Be quiet and do your job. If you don’t like it any more, no one is forcing you to stay. Quit.

Well it might save some lives. If they are not there to DNAR people without consent or mental capacity assessment. I've had to fight for clients in a hospital in Staffordshire who were being DNAR'd with either of these being done. Not people who were end of life, but who had temporary, recoverable infections. Disgusting. Hippocratic Oath means nothing to these people.

Money is everything to young people, take it away and they couldnt care less. They want money, and they will use the lives of many to get that money, almost a hostage situation really, give in to our demands or the weak shall die.
