Herd Immunity and Coronavirus: Can It Be Achieved?

SARS-CoV-2 has spread quickly across communities. Stopping it will require a significant percentage of people to be immune. But how can we get to that point?

Herd immunity is possible only if a person’s immune system recognizes and stops the replication of the virus, and does not spread the contagious virus. The main COVID-19 respiratory illness can be overcome, but caught again. The next time a person comes in contact with the virus he or she may have one of the many COVID-19 symptoms, or only be a carrier. Some people have the active COVID-19 virus without symptoms- asymptomatic. An asymptomatic person is also a carrier. Herd immunity is not possible if people are carriers. Carriers come in contact with individuals without resistance and spread the virus. This is why it is recommended to wear a mast to stop the carriers from spreading the virus to susceptible individuals. We have to all think that we are carriers. This is why it is respectful to wear a mask. We wear a mask to protect others.

I heard that herd immunity don't apply to coronavirus because the immunity doesn't last very long. Like with the cold.

Prediction: in may or june 2021, we will reach herd immunity in Europe.

Of course I cannot ever be attained. Heard by definition are wild animals control by humans. As a human I will never be part of the herd and frankly I’m offended that we use this phrase to consider anything regarding the activities of humans it’s annoying. It makes us all feel SL we’re part of some type of animal group which we are clearly not we are humans
